edit: this game is truly amazing. i love it so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much. i have dreams about playing it as a full ass grown adult. i havent felt this addicted since overwatch launch.

So I'm updating this review and sticking with the positive review, while also noting that this game just isn't for me. This is by far the best platform fighter in a long time, and if you enjoy platform fighters you should absolutely buy this game. I just find a lot of aspects of the "melee" portion of this game to be infuriating, most specifically the aerial combat and grab mechanics. Overall though, this game is great.

So I bought this game on a whim because I remembered seeing this art everywhere, only for all my friends to go "uh oh". I've since played the first episode, and saw that there was a controversy where people harassed the creator of this game? No clue. That kind of behavior is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and no one deserves that. Developing and releasing a game as a whole is an incredibly difficult endever, so congrats to them and the team for reaching launch. However, this game is bad. The simplistic gameplay mixed with the weird incest Bonnie & Clyde don't appeal to me in any way. It's just frustrating that no one actually talks about the game, just the controversy surrounding it. Glad I played it, but don't reccomend it.

This is a very hesitant yes from someone who does not own the original Risk of Rain. Level 2 has an EXTREME difficulty spike and items drop are much scarcer than Risk of Rain 2. I also think that it is work noting that you don't aim with mouse, but you aim the direction you're facing. This is a VERY unforgiving game. I'm having a ton of fun with it, and everything else in the game is of the highest caliber.

I think when a DLC is so good that the only thing people say about it is "give us more DLC" then you know you have an incredible game, and an even more incredible DLC

Softest recommendation I've ever written. This is not for the straights or the prudes, and there is something here. But the game play is too simplistic atm for the over arching story that is told. However if the only bad thing from a game is wanting more than it's pretty good imo

Honestly this game is so great. The game play is so fun, dunking on people as Batman or Shaggy is so funny. Once you get used to how floaty the game is, you really start schmoving on people way harder than anyone has any right too. My main problem with this game is all the micro-transactions and how hard the grind is. While it isn't impossible to get characters like other games (VALORANT), the amount of coins you get is really sad. You get maybe 30 coins for winning and like 5 coins for losing. If coins were easier to achieve then I think the game would be a LOT better. I don't mind paying for skins, I just wanna play the characters.

Relaunch Edit: If I thought currencies were a problem before, jesus christ. There are now 4 currencies for players to grind and get, and it's borderline impossible to unlock anything or anyone. While the company took the game down for a year to fix the online and hitboxes, part of that involved switching to Unreal 5 which??? I don't understand. The game was fine in Unreal 4, and many games are still made and maintained in Unreal 4. Additionally, for everything they shut the game down for, like yeah it's better but it's not good. This game should've stayed in the oven for another year. Haven't been this disappointed in a while.
