It's Skyrim. What else do I have to say? Play with mods, do a run-through without them to get all the achieves, etc, etc. Have fun. Run with it. It JUST WORKS.

The game might be dated, but it's always been a fun and fairly faithful adaptation of Tolkien. The free to play model is quite fair, and with a little bit of grinding on multiple characters on multiple servers, you can buy your way through the game. Even one expenditure on points or an expansion or anything real-life will net you premium status which gets you extra character slots per server and a few other bonuses. I would recommend buying Moria as an expansion over others ,a s it includes two more character slots as well as two classes. All in all, it's a fun game as long as you remember that it is from 2006, and has aged as such.

I enjoyed it, as someone who owns but has never gotten around to playing any of the other Gothic games (or the Risen ones either, I have a huge game backlog). The combat feels clunky and overly complicated to me. Not to mention, I would have the right "stance" and still get mauled by enemies. And the VO is quite terrible, with the way there are awkwardly long pauses, and in other spots not a pause where there should be one, or the voices don't match the subtitles, sometimes leaving out whole words or phrases. Clean it up a little and it should be pretty good. I don't mind the little hints in game for surfaces you can jump up on, or to loot items, or even the outlines of items, although some care is needed to make sure those outlines don't still show when looking through a stone wall, for example.

Early Access Review
How long does a game have to stay in "early access"? You can't call a game ALPHA after 5 EFFING years, idiots. De-rectalize your craniums and stop screwing people out of their money. Don't waste money on this cash-grab money trap. I'll "Be Polite" in my reviews when you stop allowing companies like this to take a dump all over the concept of "game developing".
