How can I review something I spend more than 400 hours before I bought it on Steam?

Simple. This game is superb. It supports mods; it has an editor of which you can make literally anything in it. You can use scripts so you make almost anything possible. I recommend you to buy the bundle with all the expansions, because those add quite a lot to the game (units, vehicles, weapons and maps). Get it in major Steam sales and it will get up to 80% discount. If you have a limited computer, it should still run reasonable if you severely cut in draw distance and graphics.

The less positive points:

If you have a superb computer it will still run just reasonable just because it's Arma. Clumsy, low FPS not very good if near a town with a lot of units… because it was never optimized. It may even run better Arma 3 than 2 because... Arma...

It is already a classic!

There's a lot to say about American Truck Simulator. But most probably if you are reading this, either you want opinions if you should buy the game, or you have the game and want to see if others think as you.

The ambience is different from Euro Truck Simulator 2. Different map, different driving styles, ATS is quite different with some similar aspects. You drive a truck with a cargo. That's the only thing in common. You feel a difference in the way of driving (European trucks are better in maneuvers, American trucks are better when cruising a long road). I think if you love driving, you should definitely get ATS as a complement of ETS2. If you are willing to buy one or the other, I recommend that you start by ETS2 :)

I hope the team expands this game a lot, with at least half of the US, which will make it superb!

Bought this game for the memories I have of it. It's highly recomended for the park creations. You can and will do a lot of (im)possible structures but it's a bit up to the player to check for the realism. There's nothing like the charm of being able to send a rollercoaster from 0 to 200mph in few seconds! :D
It's really an awesome game with a quite high learn time. It takes plenty of time to learn how to do and how to manage everything.
This steam version has the 2 addons of the game (Wild and Soaked) which adds quite a lot of new atractions. Worths it's price on Steam big sales (up to 75% discount) for new players or for the memories it brings.

Automation is a great potential. It will be a great game, with a superb car/engine design tool. Sounds are nice too, the engine sound depends on a lot of factors from the choose of the materials. And it's pretty well detailed. But there's a "but" in this history.
The game in it's current state is very buggy, full of glitches. You don't save your game often and you will find the hour you spend making up a great car going to garbage. Some times it work, most of them don't. I also have another game of the genre, GearCity and beside it does not have this car&engine creator... It's far more stable.
Automation also lacks other engine setups / cylinder numbers. Many of them wasn't a great sucess, but they existed. And there's a reason to find those in this games. You can learn why they didn't work.

So overall, from my point of view the scores would be:
8/10 Audio
5/10 Gameplay
3/10 Stabilty
4/10 Price for what you get
Overall: 5/10

It needs more polishment, maybe the new engine will be the solution, till then I rather go for GearCity. It lacks the Automation editor but at least I won't have issues and bugs in 8 out of 10 cars I do.
I hope for the best for Automation but in it's current state... Ain't enough for everyone.

Game came a long way since my last review, making it out of date. It's more stable and now it's recomended if with sale discount. Has more options and the best is much more stable now. Still has a long way to go but I enjoyed playing it again.

There are many great reviews on this game and surely they have all the reason for that. The forest is an epic project of a game. Every update comes in time and adds something valuable. Sometimes a new action, some others a new item. Other times it just correct a bunch of errors and bugs that start to upset the players. Then a new bug appears or you see something buggy for the first time... And you laugh! Because the forest is that: enjoying a game that is buggy, laggy sometimes but it's a heck of a game! The story is going to be completed some day, meanwhile you can't find your kid... But he will apear... And most of the bugs will dissapear!

It's surely much more stable and better performed in single player, as well as much more light to low end computers...
I can run 30/40 FPS single player and 20FPS co-op with 2 players. More than 4 players online and I can't play.
But online is where the joy lives!
