Personal review of : Alien Isolation. First of all, I've got to commend Creative Assembly for this superb release. Honestly, a studio that's never tackled a FPS game, completely blew all my expectations for this game. I was worried, you see, just like you I got burned hard by A:CM and Gearbox. I swore never to buy a gearbox game again, but after all the trailers, all the hype and the talk, I went into this game expecting to be dissapointed. What I was though was massively impressed. Oh where do I even begin? First of all let's get this out of the way, Alien Isolation feels like a true next-gen game (except for the mo-cap). Graphics are amazing. Lighting, volumetric smoke, the enviroments really feel crafted by hand, all of them. Everything is "fluid" in the sense of an Aliens game. The level design works against you, long dismal corridors serve to alienate(no pun intented) the player, while it servs a greater purpose to the Alien. The technophobia and aesthetics of the 70's sci-fi vision of the world is nailed so perfect on so many levels. Graphics, sound, setting, mood, atmosphere. It's all here. Story wise it falls a bit short, Amanda as a character doesn't quite reach her peak IMO.Instead it feels more like a streched cat&mouse chase. She starts off innocently enough seeking closure after the disappearance of her mother. What ensues afterwards is a long strech of corridors, backtracking, fixing the station etc. The point is that the story feels a bit secondary compared to the meat of the game. Sneaking and surviving. Which are pretty well made, except for a lack of actual indication as to how "visible" you are, but I personally embrace this choice, since it makes it less video-game-y and more of an experience. Dodging, sneaking and outsmarting the Alien reflect how well you react in these situations. There is just so much depth to the game, it's amazing how few bugs I've actually encountered during my playtime (It's twice the amount on steam, I pirated before I bought it). Anyways, you can stealth through the entire game, with the exception of a few forced android fights. Stealth works fine, combat is a bit shallow, the NPC survivors are kinda dumb, the focus being on the xeno. Other areas pin you against other enemies, but generally speaking if you are patient enough you can stealth almost 90% of the game (I did it on the hardest difficulty without any human casualites). To wrap up this review, I highly recommend Alien:Isolation to pretty much all fans of the licence and fans of the horror genre, AI so advanced in a horror game is trully a blessing, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Alien reacts to your motion detector's sounds for pete's sake and since you can never learn the "pattern" of the Alien. Crafting and salvaging are also a big part of the game, but yet again it comes to your personal preference (which stuff to use), the only useful items I can think about are the noisemakers, health kits and molotovs.
    The Good:
  1. Superbe graphics
  2. Good voice acting
  3. Plays&Feels like a next-gen experience
  4. Xeno AI is the best seen so far in any game
  5. Plenty of respect and love for the source material, best use of Alien material in a videogame
  6. DLC's offer up so many new maps & a few new modes, Good to sink in some extra hours
  7. One of the best optimized games of 2014
  8. Massive game ( up to 15-25 hours on a first playthrough)
  9. Seegson's role in the game is the best deviation from the tired old storyline
  10. Crafting and salvaging parts encourage exploration
  11. Audio logs recorded with the original staff from Alien 1979
    The bad:
  1. Amanda as a character and the overall story are kinda average
  2. SUBJECTIVE: Game is reusing plenty of enviroments, since backtracking is a huge part of it, might dissapoint some people
  3. Human AI is a bit lackluster
  4. Forced combat sections in a primarily stealth focused game
  5. From time to time you'll suffer some "unfair" deaths on part of the Alien's unpredictable AI
  6. Sequel bait ending

It gets a personal rating of 9/10, story was weaker, backtracking hurt a bit but overall it's a massively enjoyable experience. Alien's fans will love this, probably the best adaptation ever. P.S. The DLC's for this game are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing.

Short review for a cute but short "Spooky" horror game. Spooky's House of Jump Scares is a indie 1st person walking simulator, you take on the role of an historian on an expedition to explore a strange castle. After this you're given little to no explanation other than the odd notes found through the game. The game basically boils down to open door, proceed through room open next door. It gets old really, really fast. To keep things interesting, the game throws some new enemy types (which I honestly couldn't tell apart from the others) and they spice things up with the rooms. The biggest problem with this game is repetition, I think somewhere around 70-80% of rooms are always empty and are basically the same. It's really boring to be honest, and even the ocasional jump-scare won't impress you after you realise you spent 3-4 hours pressing E to proceed in a "horror" game. It had some interesting ideas to it, but it's just too boring to play. I guess if they made the rooms more random it would have been ok, but eh. It still feels boring and bland to play, it's ok for the first 15-20 minutes but don't expect much to change.

    The good:
  1. Good audio
  2. Decent atmosphere

    The Bad:
  1. Lackluster gameplay
  2. Repetitive rooms
  3. Lack of variety overall
  4. Boring

A 4/10 at best

Personal review of: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
Mods: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Complete
Difficulty: Master

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky is a sequel/prequel to the events prior to Shadow of Chernobyl. Taking place in 2011, where a second emission took place and created the Zone, a place filled with mutants, strange anomalies, and it's populated by STALKERS, basically scavengers/fighters/artifact seekers, you get the point. You play as Scar, a veteran STALKER chasing down Strelok when an emission hits and you are left incapacitated. You wake up at Clear Sky base, a swamp base where this faction is devoted to understanding the Zone and learning all it's secrets and uncovering the strange phenomens going on. After you finish a few tasks you are free to explore the Zone and side with whatever faction you want, explore and play the game. I won't say more than this since it took me 2,5 hours just to leave the Swamp areas (doing quests, exploring etc.), so the rest is up to you to find out. The game is built on the same X-Ray engine, with a few updated changes. Mainly the AI has been tweeked to fit the new faction war system, visuals have been upped, and many more changes have been implemented. As far as Stalker Clear Sky goes, almost all the weapons have been reused for this prequel, half of the areas too meaning you will revisit some familiar places while exploring new ones. Enemies, NPC's too, so you might find the actual content of this one a bit lacking. Onto more relevant changes, the HUD got reworked, being simplified, also the PDA got some new features, being able to track more easily your tasks, you can now see enemy/friendly factions on the radar, giving you a better understading of where they are being concentrated, etc. The hunger system has been removed, don't know why honestly, weapon upgrades are available, the way you collect/obtain artifacts has also been changed, to the point where you need to use an artifact detector to "see" them. This also implies you will have to walk into the middle of anomalies and hope you won't get killed before you collect them. Stalker Clear Sky has received some flak, being the "weakest" part of the trilogy, and I can see why. This game really kicks you in the balls, same as Shadow of Chernobyl, you start off really underpowered, with little to no ammo/supplies to push through the onslaught of enemies in the Swamp areas. Beware, playing this game and rushing the main storyline will result in a frustratingly hard game. I recommend taking your time and exploring, doing side-quests, parting with different factions as it will result in a much more relaxed experience. It's hard as ♥♥♥♥. There's no doubt about it. But why is it hard? All Stalker games are hard, there's no question about it, this is how these games were built, as an PC exclusive hardcore survival/rpg-ish experience, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky comes short in some areas. The thing is the atmosphere, lighting, texture quality is on par and beyond it's first game, but it falls flat in AI behaviour, there are less underground areas to explore (which were a highlight), side tasks include a lot of fetching and killing. These are the most basic things about it. Then we move into combat, wich remains largely unchanged except for one thing. Grenades, I can't stres enough how annoying this addition is, not only will NPC's hit you 90% with them, they will also result in an instant death on higher difficutly levels, which is not very Stalker like. We all know how you can't really take cover in these games, being surrounded by anomalies, high radiation levels and NPC's throwing grenades makes the combat feel unfair at times. Also the fact that they still use the same weapons as you use, only with 100% accuracy and 0 bullet drop is just horse ♥♥♥♥. Seriously. My main gripe with this game is the combat. It feels so random and so luck based that it's the single thing that really kills this game. Don't get me wrong, this is a massive game, with tons of stuf to do, but when it comes to combat (being an FPS game also) it sucks. It just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. Bullets dance around hitboxes all the time, it feels like when you shoot in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky you play roullete or you roll the dice. It all comes down to what the game wants to hit, not you. Fully upgraded weapons feel the same, so there's no excuse here. Secondly, the last part of the game (Once you reach Limansk) is just A grade bullcrap. This whole area is designed around enemies placed in hard to reach/predict areas, Monolith soldiers are so buffed, I died almost 50 times in the last part of the game alone. Seriously, a fully upgraded suit will only serve to protect you against 2-3 bullets maximum. There are also a lot of engine crashes here and plenty of bugs, so expect to be disappointed near the end of the game. And now, we have to move to the Chernobyl NPP area. SPOILER ALERT Once you reach Chernobly, this is where the game was at it's worst. First off, there are so many enemies at once, it's likely you will die 90% of the time without any chance of shooting back. Why? They never miss, they take 10-15 bullets to get killed. Also you're presured by the fac that you have to hit Strelok with a gun that isn't effective at all against all the Monolith soldiers being spawned in this area. This last level is probably one of the worst I've ever played. No joke, hitscan enemies everywhere, almost 0 cover and little or no indication to what you're supposed to do or where Strelok is, I'm not asking for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bullseye above his head, but seriously the minimap is useless here, and so are the teleporters, serving only to confuse the player. Want to know how ♥♥♥♥ this level is? It took me one hour to finish it, only because I died constantly and 70% of the time I was loading my last save game. When I did finish it, Strelok got stuck in an area off screen, seriously, he was outside Chernobyl and I was able to snipe him only to get the ending which only disappointed me. I played SoC and CoP and those game featured multiple endings, to my delight, here it's just the same 30 seconds cutscene, which I won't discuss for the sake of your own discovery. Anyways, let's cut the crap since this game is from 2008 and I've talked so much already nobody is going to bother reading this anyway, so here is a small list of what works and what doesn't in the 2nd Stalker instalment

The good:
  1. Superb atmosphere
  2. Amazing lighting effects
  3. Astounding weather changes + the seamless shifts from day-night
  4. Faction wars
  5. Weapon customization
  6. Improved HUD + PDA/Map system
  7. Refined visuals, better draw distance and richer enviroments
  8. Huge sandbox

The bad:
  1. Recycled enemies, weapons, enviroments make this Prequel feel like they used cut content/turned a boxed expansion pack into a standalone title
  2. Horrible gun mechanics, play it for yourself I can't explain it (note: I didn't play the vanilla version, I can't imagine how bad the guns perform in the base game)
  3. The beginning and ending of this game are atrocious. Honestly
  4. Fewer underground areas, which were a highlight of this series
  5. They removed the hunger system, the stamina system sucks in this, making it feel less survival compared to SoC and CoP
  6. Lack of impact on the overall arch of the story, no matter what faction you chose, it all boils down to what gear you obtain, rendering the whole "choice" of it all utterly useless.
  7. Less russian dialogue and voiced lines, rendering the immersion to a bare minimum in this title.
  8. Little to non-existent expansion on the Stalker universe&lore.
In the end, I can only recommend S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky only with Mods, I've tried it with Complete only, but I still recommend it, there are few games that come close to it. A personal rating of 7/10.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a reboot/fps game developed by MachineGames, based in Sweeden. It's interesting to see this franchise being brought to life by a studio that had no active games developed. And wow, what a game this turned out to be. These guys really showed love for the source material, don't get me wrong, it's not a perfect game but damn does it come close to one. The sheer amount of carnage on display, the gunplay, the health bar system, these guys blended modern FPS tropes with old-school run and gun mechanics so well, it's almost seemless. It's good. Really, really good. Well, Wolfensten TNO starts out fairly lame, with a turret section and we're being introduced to BJ once again and his co-pilot. It's a WW2 alternate mission, which sets the tone of the game fairly on. BJ talks in a Batman-esque voice, narrating stuff the entire game, but it's fairly well writen and voice acted so it's ok. After this we wake up after 10+ years in Poland, in an insane asylum. After BJ gets pissed off he even gets out of his catatonic state and starts tearing nazi's a new one. It's fairly stupid at times (the story) but they really do try hard to evoke empathy and legitimate emotions from the player, but at times this fails because it's simply too over the top for my taste. Like the story doesn't quite fit the overall game (Looking at you GTA 4). But anyway, it's not bad or anything, given the fact the BJ was well known only for, well, killing nazis. It's decent enough to drive the plot and it's setpieces forward. The supporting cast is also excelently voice acted and everyone seems to be farily well written. The anthagonists in this game are superbly done. You need to view only one or two cutscenes to drive you mad and fill you up with the thirst of revenge. The game manages to make nazis even more hateable. But anyway, I could talk more in depth about the game, but the less said about this game the better, trust me
So let's break things down into two categories: Good and bad.
    The good:
  1. Superb gunplay, old school run and gun mechanics blended perfectly with modern shooting
  2. Linear level design but with plenty of exploration, side paths and such, good enough
  3. The graphics are really good for an iD tech engine, we know how Rage turned out on this
  4. Awesome enemy/backdrop designs, most of the time the architecture of it all steals the show
  5. Dual wielding any guns (Assault rifles, shotguns etc)
  6. Overcharge system for full on carnage and a well designed stealth system, play the game your way
  7. Polished single player experience, 10-12 hours on a first playthrough with a 2nd one ensured by a binary choice early on
  8. Excelent voice acting, character development and decent story
    The bad:
  1. No multiplayer
  2. Some texture pop-in may piss some people off
  3. Stealth could use some fine tuning (knives are fairly underpowered compared to the silenced pistol)
  4. Some plot stuff is a bit too over the top(Personal taste)
  5. The whole Nazis rule the world concept isn't fully explored, lost potentional in some areas (Altough they did do the concentration camp part really well)
This is my personal 2014 GOTY and it deserves it. 9/10 for this game, I recommend playing it on Uber since the game is fairly ballanced with the exception of a few ares where shotgun heavy dudes will gun you down easily and some cheap deaths will ensue.
P.S: you fight nazis in space, underwater, in concentration camps, in a mental asylum. Variety is strong with this one!

[PERSONAL REVIEW: HEROES & GENERALS]
[LONG VERSION - SCROLL DOWN FOR SIMPLIFIED LIST]

Good game bad execution. Don't get me wrong, the first few hours of this felt so, soo good. After I reached level 3, things really turned to sh1t. Let me explain a bit. The game starts you off fairly simple, you got a gun and a grenade (no sidearm for some odd reason) and you play some small CP maps, battlefield style. All is good, shooting is ok I guess, everyone has the basic gear it all goes down to who is the better fps player. After you reach level 3 you can unlock "war" and some other maps, playing these huge maps at first felt like a thrill, huge opened up areas with plenty of flanking and sniper positions. OK. All is good, then things start to go down the toilet. What started as a promising shooter, turns out to be one of the most unbalanced shooters I've played so far. First off, the teams are never equally matched, players of different skill are placed at random, so you can either have a fair experience, or you're gonna get rekt time after time. This also evolves into a second major flaw, the unlock system. I have never for the life of my ever explained why I need to grind my way just so I don't feel under powered or to feel like I'm missing out, and I will never see the point. My gripe here is that the enemy team has 6 tanks, about 6 snipers and infantry with OP as ♥♥♥♥ guns that completely destroy you at close range, while you are stuck with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ bolt action rifle that takes up to 3-4 hits just to bring down a dude. ♥♥♥♥ it, I'm not playing this game ever again. Blocking content, especially game changing ones is not fair. I don't give a damn if this game is 10 bucks or of it is free, it is never ok to lock content away, ever. This is one of the worst business models in videogames ever. PERIOD. Too bad, this is a game with such potential but nope, they will never drop the pricing of items. They even have the balls to lock away "bonus xp" behind some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ paywall, at least don't tease people with experience, you have to grind hundreds of hours to get everything in this game, I'm not kidding, and after you're probably grinded your way to the top, who cares? Want my suggestion? Go buy CS:GO, simply the best shooter ever. ♥♥♥♥ this game, and ♥♥♥♥ ww2 games, they can kiss my ♥♥♥♥, go play Counter-Strike to see how a cheap and excellent shooter is made, not this p2w miserable ♥♥♥♥.

The Good:
  1. Nice weapon models
  2. Expansive - huge battlefields
  3. Ok sound design
  4. Plenty of combat types - Air combat, tank combat, infantry etc
  5. Lots of content
The bad:
  1. Pay 2 Win system (Don't defend it)
  2. Locked content that takes weeks of playing to unlock
  3. Lack of matchmaking balance
  4. No voice chat, no radio commands, nothing except text makes playing this game alone a waste of time
  5. Lack of variety in game modes (CTP is the only mode found here)
  6. Overpowered guns and lack of balance
  7. Tanks are ruining the game
  8. Mediocre shooting mechanics

5/10. Visuals look bad, but I guess it's ok since the levels are huge. Remove all the pay 2 unlock/become overpowered features and maybe this game will fair better, since then, only frustration and bad design choices will be the things you find in this game

So, here we are. Duke Nukem Forever. I picked this one up really late because honestly I avoided it a lot, and after all this time, after the dust has settled, lets just see how this game truly is.

First of all, prior to writing this review I decided to investigate a bit in the 15 years it took this game to be developed and the whopping 20-30 milion dollars invested in this (Wikipedia source: While the game neared completion, the funding began to dry up. Having spent more than $20 million of their own money, Broussard and Miller asked Take-Two for $6 million to complete the game. According to Broussard and Miller, Take-Two initially agreed, but then only offered $2.5 million. Take-Two maintained that they offered $2.5 million up front and another $2.5 million on completion. Broussard rejected the counteroffer, and on May 6, 2009, suspended all development.")

Holy ♥♥♥♥. All that money, all that hype, all the promise, all those expectations....all for nothing.

Duke Nukem Forever starts things off fairly sily, with the endgame boss battle from D3D recreated here, the game starts you off in your penthouse doing...nothing. It starts out guns blazing, fighting the Cycloid Emperor, but then things start to slow down, drasticaly. Why? Wtf. Also, the first joke in the game, literally the first line of the game is the only funny one "After twelve ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years it better be good". They knew they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. They ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up so royaly they could never, ever live up to the hype and expectations. Especially with a game that looks and plays like this. This is the main problem, this is what SUCKS. You start the game, walking like a jackass, looking at backgrounds that look so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrible, even the 2001 demo had a better looking Las Vegas, you wait for people to move out of the way, listen through boring dialogue, you walk, you walk, you wait for the President to talk to you about some ♥♥♥♥ that you don't care anyway, you punch a few aliens and FINALLY you get a gun. Wow, talk about a slow start, about 30-40 minutes without any action. And after the "action" kick in, you realize something. Hey, wait a minute, why do the guns feel so lame? Why don't enemies react better to my shots? Why is there such a low ammo cap? Why am I regenerating health? Why is there NO GOOD MUSIC IN THIS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GAME? AND WHY IN THE HOLY MOTHER OF ♥♥♥♥ AM I DOING PLATFORMING AND DRIVING SEQUENCES IN A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DUKE NUKEM GAME? No, there is no excuse for this mess. No wonder 3D Realms collapsed after this, they invested 20 milion dollars in a game that was announced in 1997, 1998, 2001, 2007 and released in 2011. They pissed on their fans. "When it's done" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, seriously, worst thing about this whole fiasco is that Duke Nukem is probably DEAD FOREVER. This may have been the final nail in the coffin. But I could rant about this for hours and for pages, let's just break things down into what I enjoyed and what I disliked and give it a personal rating.

The good:
  1. Interactive enviroment
  2. Fairly decent alien design
  3. The shotgun is really fun to use
  4. Some, not all Duke jokes are "fun" to say the least
That's it, I can't think of more, honestly.

The bad:
  1. Recycled jokes/enemies,guns - No real new additions to the formula
  2. Linear corridor levels set on predetermined paths
  3. Visuals that represent the original release date planned for 2006-2007
  4. Long, boring and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ platforming, driving and puzzle solving sections that drag on way too long
  5. Lack of variation with enemy ecounters
  6. Lame boss battles
  7. Limited ammo cap
  8. Regenerating health
  9. ♥♥♥♥ plot
  10. ♥♥♥♥ voice acting(aside from Duke)
  11. 0 enviromental story telling, 0 characters to be remembered
  12. Lack of a kick ass soundtrack
  13. Boring overall to play
For the 6 bucks I spent on this, through all the frustrating moments, this game is downright Boring to play. It's just not worth it, I had to try it out for myself to see exactly all it's flaws, but man, does it ♥♥♥♥ big time. No reedeming factors here. I was expecting a bit more fan service to say the least, but nope. It's just a linear, ♥♥♥♥♥♥, corridor shooter that makes fun of other "modern games" but plays exactly like one. The irony is amazing. ♥♥♥♥ this game, ♥♥♥♥ 3D Realms, ♥♥♥♥ Gearbox and ♥♥♥♥ this game. 3/10

Wow, just wow. I was expecting a proper F.E.A.R. Online platform, instead, I got this. What is this? A cheap COD Clone? With an really, really annoying P2W concept. This is not FEAR, it's just a crappy shooter trying to leech of a franchise name. 0/10 would not recommend to anyone.

F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon is a first-person shooter psychological horror video game developed by Monolith Productions and published by Sierra Entertainment and the first game in the F.E.A.R. series. It was released on October 18, 2005.

F.E.A.R. puts you in the shoes of "The Point man", a secret special ops group of the U.S. government specialized in dealing with paranormal threats, When the game begins, the player witnesses a man named Paxton Fettel taking command of a battalion of telepathically controlled clone supersoldiers, seizing control of Armacham Technology Corporation (ATC) headquarters, and killing all its occupants. A strong atmospheric shooter, FEAR does so many things right, but fails in some categories drastically. While the shooting is top notch, dynamic lighting and a solid soundtrack makes this an enjoyable shooter, the lack of enemy variety and repetitive nature of the leves might turn off some players. You are equiped with a fairly diverse arsenal from the basic pistol to more advanced weapons like the Type-7 Particle weapon and many other. The bullet time is superb, the amount of enviromental destruction is here aswel, as particles and walls shatter after you shoot them. It's a briliant showcase of how a shooting something should behave. Not many games offer this level of detailt, to be honest, and this one is quite old. The story is quite nice, a bit generic with the whole *experiment gone wrong theme* and some of the plot elements are delivered via phone calls or debriefed during loadtimes. Nothing too over the top, it gets the job done and keeps the player interested. Overall this game has much to offer, and falls into the category of "old-school PC shooting games", reminescent of the goldern era of shooters (1994-2004) with health pick-ups, no cover system, just plain balls to the walls action. Lastly, I'd like to talk about the AI, which has received much praise, and it deserves it. Your enemies use tactics and commands to adapt to certain situations you put them into, responding adequately, making them feel more human than just lines of code. When you shoot them, they react in a realistic manner, thanks to some great physics in the game, overall they perform well enough.

I'll list specifically what I loved about the game and disliked about it

The good:
  1. Solid gunplay
  2. Great amosphere
  3. Good sound/music design
  4. Challenging enemy AI
  5. Destructive enviroments, awesome lighting effects, cool death animations
  6. Sense of dread and solitude throughout the campaign
  7. Exploration is rewarded
The bad:
  1. Repetitive level design
  2. Lack of enemy variety
  3. Story is delivered poorly and not developed enough
  4. Short lenght for the campaign
  5. Too many health pick-ups and ammo, not too challenging
  6. Dead multiplayer

This is a 7/10 for me, short of a 9 because of the level design being so primitive at times. A must own.
