Excerpt taken from my review on Digital Spy: http://www.digitalspy.com/gaming/review/a572043/transistor-review-pc-lightning-strikes-twice-for-supergiant.html

Transistor's combat shows that Supergiant Games isn't satisfied to simply rest on its past successes, with strategy and experimentation that only become more fun the more you play with it.

However that same ambition doesn't seem as prevalent in Transistor's story.

It isn't a bad story, with plenty of intrigue from its setting and characters. The issue comes in when it tries to take a leap into the realm of allegory, where it never ties itself together thematically in a satisfying way.

In that way, Transistor is like a virtual croissant. It is layered and delicious, but there is a lingering airy emptiness to it that makes it hard to fill up on just one.

Have another, or in this case play through Transistor again in Recursion mode, and you'll have your fill, but the deeper meaning it strives for feels like little more than empty carbs.
