Alright, it's time I sit down and give MW2 an extensive review because I have a lot to say...


The Good:


- Performance
I am currently running an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X with an RTX 2070 Super, and I can say that the game runs great on medium/low settings. I get around 130 FPS which is perfect for my Gsync monitor. Several weeks after the game released, I can finally say that I no longer crash or freeze at all, at least for my hardware. I am aware that some people are still experiencing crashes which is unfortunate. I'm glad I'm one of the lucky ones. With the terrible launch performance and then fixes later 6/10.

- Graphics
The graphics aren't really anything special, they are pretty on par for a AAA 2022 release. The game still looks great on medium/low settings. There are still some shading issues on the main menu and in certain areas of certain maps, however they aren't too distracting. Animations are very scuffed, however I personally find some of the scuffed animations absolutely hilarious. It gives me old school COD vibes. 5/10 currently

- Movement
The movement feels amazing in this game. I'm very happy with the nerf to slide cancelling and bunny hopping. I personally hated advanced movement mechanics and it turned me off from most of the recent releases (except Cold War, I played the ♥♥♥♥ out of that game). They also brought back dolphin diving which I think is just a no brainer, now players have the option to either dive OR slide. With all these changes, the game feels VERY MUCH like an old school COD and I am eating that ♥♥♥♥ up. Drop shotting is becoming meta again, which is slightly annoying but I'll take it over someone spamming their space bar. OVverall, very good movement. 9.5/10

- Classes
The class system is very meh for me. While I enjoy the fact that the levels have been reduced significantly and many attachments are shared between different guns, the perk system is ♥♥♥♥ and will be discussed in the bad section of this review. 5/10

-Killstreaks
Killstreaks are killstreaks 9/10

- Snipers (NOT MARKSMAN)
I'll straight up say, I am a quickscoper. I've been quickscoping since BO2. I know some people hate the facthat quickscoping is possible, but to that I say go ♥♥♥♥ yourself. If you are a quickscoper, you will love sniping in this game, especially since advanced movement has been nerfed out the ass. Marksman rifles are a different story. They are incredibly broken and I will discuss them later in the bad section of this review. Personally, I believe the sniper rifle class is very balanced. 10/10

- Reg guns
Most of the reg guns feel good. The only gun I think is absolute dog is the M16, which I am fine with because its been OP in every previous COD. If you reg gun, you will enjoy this game. Assault rifles are good, submachine guns are good, shotguns are good, lmgs are good. There are MANY guns that I think are TOO good and will be diuscussed in the bad section of this review. 8/10

- The camo grind
The camo grind in this game is incredibly streamlined and I love it. Levels on every weapon have been reduced significantly since MW 2019. There aren't many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ challenges such as mounted kills or prone kills, and when they do show up, its only like 15-30 and can be done in a single game. The camos themselves are really well designed as well. I can see many of the camos being used even if mastery camos are already unlocked. Overall, 10/10

- Maps
Maps are pretty well designed overall. While I personally wish the maps were more of a traditional 3 lane design instead of a giant circle with a building in the middle, they are still good maps, and there are many different locations for every type of play style. Ground war maps are very fun to play as well, no complaints. The border crossing map is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dog tho, ♥♥♥♥ that map. Overall 8/10

- Ground War
Ground war is fun, that's all I have really. 10/10

- Lobbies
The lobbies are incredibly toxic and I love it. 10/10


The Bad:
♥♥♥♥ me this game has issues I would put ratings, but they are all 0/10 so why bother


- The main menu
It was made by some dude who worked at Hulu. It is terrible. Giant boxes everywhere, you have to unnecessarily scroll through everything. It takes 10 million clicks to view your camo challenges and then get back to the lobby. There is no pregame lobby because SBMM I guess. There is no map voting/skipping. The gunsmith is endless scrolling for 1 attachment. You can't see your XP token timer and have no way of knowing if one is even active. There was no combat record at launch. There were no challenges other than camos at launch. The challenges are all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as it stands now anyway. Terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible. Fire the guys who designed this ♥♥♥♥.

- Launch issues
It goes without saying the launch was terrible, I don't understand how this continues to be an issue with every COD. Get gud devs

- Skill based matchmaking
This has been debated for years and there isn't anything else to say about it. I hate it, every lobby is a sweat fest. ♥♥♥♥ you activision

- Time to kill
The time to kill in this game is absurd. Submachine guns melt, shotguns one shot from 50 meters, LMGs are OP, assault rifles are also very OP. Some meta examples include any variation of the AK, the Aug, the Fennec, the RAAL MG, any shotgun. Like its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous how you can be 2 shot by the AK, and don't even get me started on the fennec. I've made the joke many times that the game doesn't need a hardcore mode because core is that mode. Nerf the TTK please

- Marksman rifles
Like I said, I am a quickscoper. However, I believe that the SPR and the SA-B 50 are very OP and can use a ADS and fire rate nerf OR a damage nerf. The speed and damge is outlandish. I guess I consider myself a purest and believe only sniper rifles should be used to quickscope since the fire rate and ADS is not nearly as fast as a marksman rifle, and if you miss your shot with a sniper, you are ♥♥♥♥♥♥, thus making snipers balanced. NERF Marksman rifles.

- Perk system
The perk system is dog. I don't understand why the devs feel the need to change the COD formula every year, and this year it was perks. Earning perks throughout the match is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea. There is no good perks to compete with Ghost, so everyone uses ghost. Ninja isn't a perk, it is a field upgrade which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid. Side note related to ninja, the Footsteps are incredibly loud in this game even if you aren't sprinting. People can hear you a mile away and its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying, especially since dead silence/ ninja is not a perk. Lastly, battle hardened, which has always reduced the effects of flashes and stuns significantly, doesn't do ♥♥♥♥ and is pointless to run in your class. Overall, go ♥♥♥♥ yourself infinity ward

- "Tier 1"
This is realism, not hardcore. And there is no kill feed. Terrible game mode

- Battle pass
The battle pass is so confusing and ridiculous to look at, why would you change that to some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ roadmap. ♥♥♥♥ you infinity ward


Conclusion

Overall, I am really enjoying this game despite its many issues. The camo grind is keeping me busy for now, and once that's done, I'll be settling in SND quickscoping or playing ground war for lols, and I think I'll continue to enjoy the game. However, these flaws are inexcusable and need to be addressed. If I think of anything else or if they make a significant change to the game, I'll update this review. Overall rating 7.5/10

This game is incredibly addicting. There's so much content to keep you entertained for hours. However, devs if you are reading this, fix the f-ing cleaners. They go on break as soon as everything is clean and then i have to pay them and reassign them to cleaning again. I would rather pay them to stand around the store and wait for more footprints or trash to pick up rather than them immediately going to break on their own. It's slightly annoying. Other than that, the game is perfect. 9/10 would recommend

Game is suprisingly fun! Could use some work and additional content, however, it's a nice relaxing game to listen to tunes and kick back on a Sunday evening. 8.1/10
