This game is exactly what it says on the tin. Like others point out it has the depth and complexity of character management akin to Darkest Dungeon, where equipment and skills are marks true progress through the game. Unlike Darkest Dungeon however, the combat is not as brutally punishing (in standard difficulty) and save scumming is an option, but the tactical depth that comes through in the battle-map combat system elevates it to a phenomenal level where proper knowledge of the individual characters and manipulation of the POIs on the map can provide an overwhelming advantage. Overall the combat is addictive and engaging, not overly difficult (with caution and respect for hobgoblins) but just difficult enough to keep me locked in.

The graphics take some getting used to but frankly have their own Newgrounds-esque charm to them that takes me back to playing flash games many years ago and the narrative at times was lengthy and drawn on enough or cliche enough that boredom kicked in and the skipping of dialogue was frequent, that being said the overall story was not bad and did have its moments.

TL;DR Gameplay is amazing, and the weaker parts of the game are not so weak as to ruin the experience of enjoying the gameplay.

If you are like me, you'll read the negative reviews of the game and go "Wow that sounds like an amazing game." If you don't have that response from the negative reviews, this game probably will not be very enjoyable for you.
