Yeah that was really fun. Great little 30 minute experience with some replayability afterwards. Very much looking forward to more from the Nightmare Files. Loved the whole clapping concept- very creepy. This is a great horror experience.

Early Access Review
I've played 40 minutes and wow just buy it

edit: Put many more hours into it and haven't scratched the surface. Just plain fun. Why can't more devs make more games like this smh

A great game- my kids love it and fun to play with them. Hoping for extra content in the future. Played for literal hours and hours on the demo version and finally bought it on sale as wouldn't say it was worth full price at £17 with the current amount of content but deffo worth 8 pounds on the sale price. Think the devs would get a lot more sales if they made game price £9.99

EDIT: After playing more I agree with the other reviewer who stated this feels like Morrowind in it's general vibe and especially the great orchestral sound track. Love the crafting and massive variety of crafting options. Alchemy is fundamental and potions give a massive boost to mining, crafting, and woodcutting. If you are struggling with mining (someone was complaining in another review about mining being too slow) bear that in mind. Also try to fully explore a biome/area before you travel to the next one you have unlocked. Each biome/area is an 'Act' in the game and every time you unlock a new one the difficulty scales and increases gradually, including the difficulty of mining rocks so prepare accordingly before moving onto the next area.

This isn't the kind of game where you funnel everything into one skill and expect to succeed. To progress your character invest in all your skills in order to level up and search for every last secret (don't forget to keep your torch equipped) for extra talent points. There are some odd typos and missed punctuation but there is a lot of brilliant descriptive and funny writing in this game so I don't agree with the person who was complaining about the English translation.

Yes there are some janky bits and oddities but learning to master attack swing patterns and positioning makes a big difference. For example when swinging a sword the 3rd swing is a stab that you should move back in your positioning to maximise its damage. I feel these elements of the game are intentional and skill based.

I held out on this game for the better part of a year but SO glad I finally picked it up on sale and am having a blast. If this looks like your kind of game but you are not sure, I would definitely recommend picking it up.

Yes it is clear to see inspiration taken from Terraria and Starbound but this game feels much more intimate and 'close-up' than those. It is slower paced and you can really take your time to enjoy building, crafting and exploring the world. Surprisingly, crafting systems feel a lot more like World of Warcraft's professions than those in Runescape. Which to me is great.

In terms of gameplay loop I find myself doing the following things:
Take every quest from the main town of a biome/area. Explore every nook and cranny of non-quest unique locations for secrets, and items. Scour a couple of randomly generated sandbox tiles. Then return to base armed with items and goodies to do some crafting and tick off quest objectives. Afterward I return to the town and complete quests and pick up any followup quests. Then I might settle down on my farming tile which is next to my homestead to pick and plant crops.

I give this game a solid 8 or 9 out of 10 for its ability to captivate and engage me.

Some wishes for the future:
Range weapons - bows/xbows/darts/throwing knives etc.
A combat Arena - face an ever increasing wave of deadly monsters and/or arena contenders for glory, cash or reward points
Water - Include water and the ability to swim in 4 dimensions, up down left right. Maybe add ocean or beach tiles where we can explore the seas and dive down into temples and wrecks.
Shapeshifting spells- Being able to become a shapeshifting druid who can transform into a bear or other wild creature
Increased villager options- hire peasants and other workers for your town/homestead and be able to tax them and set living conditions and have a community vault that when you pay into it, funds for living standards and other things are taken from it. (This is a big wish)
Increased diversity of randomly generated tiles and create more objects of interest in both the overworld and underground.

I could probably go on with improvements and wishes for the game and hope the developers continue with their current level of passion and love for their game. This is a real gem. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
