Picked up this game for lulz. It was $3. I figured what the heck. BUT...

If you get cursed with ICE MODE, IT NEVER SHUTS OFF.

Be prepared to utterly rage at an already rage inducing set up. You'll slide off everything for the rest of eternity. But don't worry, when the next affliction comes around, you'll get 30 seconds of that IN TANDEM WITH ICE MODE. I've discovered, I, in fact, am not equipped to handle ice skating in outer space (e.g., low gravity mode + perpetual ice mode).

I'm not able to leave a "neutral" review of this game (steam only allows yes or no for recommend), this is absolutely a neutral for me. Now enjoy this side-eye giving duck.

My friends: Explore caves, fight mutants, find new gear.

Me: "Look at this cute lakeside cabin I built for us!"

While I very much love what I've experienced thus far, there are a few things that were in The Forest that have not returned to Sons of the Forest (yet). Some things I'd love to see implemented include:
+ turtle shell water collector
+ log sled
+ animal head/enemy head trophies
+ option to turn PvP off

There are also a few things that I'd love to see patched possibly:
+ patch/fix for defensive wall gate(s) ((They show in the survivor guide, but you can't actually build them))
+ patch/fix for weapon being put away when knocked to the ground by a heavy/large enemy

Cannot wait to see the full release of this game!

I didn't start playing the early access until maybe a week or two ago, only because truth be told, I had no idea this was even slated for release any time soon. So when I heard it was releasing this summer, and that there was an EA that I could mess with, I quickly made my purchase.

Aside from a few graphical glitches that I've seen (none major, some hilarious), the promise of this game makes it my top anticipated game of 2023. I'm not into DnD as a ttrpg as much as I used to be, but BG3 definitely pays respects to those roots, which I appreciate. It also feels good with the other NPCs in that it's reminiscent of the ME series in building relationships with them. The better your relationship with them, the more they're willing to open up and tell you about themselves. Granted, they all need to go to h*rny jail.

Yeah you can only progress to level 5 in the EA, but at over 100 hours in, I still don't feel like I've seen every possible decision/route for the different characters/builds available. It is fun to play with a few other friends but can be cumbersome in that you cannot swap out an OC for a party NPC when that friend decides to leave.

There are a few little QoL things I'd love to see in the full release:
+ mark when keys have been used so that they can be discarded, versus collecting keys you're not sure have a use
+ allow OCs to be swapped out with NPC party members if the OC player leaves
+ default should be no inventory sharing among friends, until permission has been given/checked
+ if you opt for a Beastmaster build, make it so that NPCs don't auto attack certain beasts/summons if you're friendly with that group

BG3 is absolutely the breath of life the BG series needed and I'm excited to see it in completion.

Cute little game that was well worth the asking price. Puzzles were difficult, but not so much that it became tedious or frustrating. Would have liked to see better punishment if you broke the "rules", versus just being sent to the next day. Art style was fitting for the story and some of the little touches (e.g., music speeding up when the Devil was on his way back) were appreciated. It's like escape room meets musical chairs in a sense.

I was able to finish my first play through in roughly an hour, then spent maybe 20 minutes seeing what would happen if I intentionally broke the rules and left the office a mess.

7/10

I don't remember when I picked up this game, tbh.

But a friend saw that I had it in my library and suggested that I give it a go. So I did. And I love what I've played thus far.

Love that there's high replay value in that you can opt for different character perks (I went with Observant and Animal Speech) for my first play through, whereas my friend went with Hot and Mystical. It was fun comparing the outcomes between our two play throughs.

I haven't really opted to "romance" any of the characters, it's not really my cup of tea. So I'm grateful that romance arcs are optional and you're not required to romance at least one of them.

I look forward to the release of the subsequent chapter(s) (I'm not sure how many there will be) and seeing the outcome of all my terrible choices in the game.

Pro Tip: Always pet Frou-Frou.

When I saw the trailer for this months ago, it was an instant add to wishlist item. I've just finished it, and I have to say I very much enjoyed playing this. I took my time, explored all the buildings I could see on the map, and finished all the side quests before initiating the final sequence. The only achievement I missed out on was getting all the paint buckets, sadly. It's a little on the shorter side for the price tag, but there are definitely worse ways to spend $20 dollars. And honestly, for a single-person dev team, this game is absolutely one of the higher quality games I've seen.

Pros:
+ Diverse enough side quests
+ Music/OST is great
+ Charles will def give you a jump scare or two
+ Not a difficult game if you take the time and do all the side quests
+ You're supporting a dev with an interesting and pretty unique idea
+ Awakens your deeply buried attraction to spider trains

Cons:
+ Not enough pickles
+ Can't romance Charles
+ Lacks multiplayer (for using your friend(s) as bait jolly cooperation)
+ Press F for Eugene
+ No real replay value

Overall 9/10

I just finished my first play through. Overall, I very much enjoyed this game. With a couple caveats:

Atmosphere was amazingly executed. My only complaint regarding sound design is that some of the sounds are not controlled by the option (e.g., voice, sound effects, music) sliders. Which resulted in having all the sliders turned down to roughly 30%, but certain sounds in the game coming through full blast. Would be rather jarring through certain scenes or obnoxious when certain sounds were on repeat (e.g. machinery).

The story line was well written and the characters felt varied enough and built out enough where they each had their own personalities. Only thing here is that a couple of the characters use a term that I'm really not fond of when referring to persons with mental impairments. It's toward the beginning of the game, around the time when you meet the shepherd; and then again later on when one of the characters attempts to insult you via your association with him. That term is just a big oof for me. Sure there's gonna be others who don't think anything of it, but use of it in 2022 just feels wrong. Use sh*t, as*, b*tch, f*ck, dumbf*ck, or any combination therein to your heart's content. But let's not call someone a derogatory name that was used to specifically target and discriminate against mentally handicapped people decades ago.

Control layout was easy enough to grasp. Did not experience any bugs, glitches, or crashing on my setup.

Overall 8/10.
