TLDR: This game is great and has excellent mechanics, customization, and gameplay. 9.4/10, would absolutely recommend.

If you're like me, you value customization above all else. Genome Guardian has that in droves. Aside from being a very solid turret arena shooter, with polished mechanics. a killer soundtrack, and charming visuals, Genome guardian is a game that first and foremost, lets you do what you want.
This game has a huge amount of customization and build options, and rarely anything is un-viable, meaning that you're able to experiment freely. It obviously helps that the game is just damn fun too, so upgrading, playing, and trying things out is never a bore.

Weapons are built using 4 nucleotides, and there are a LOT of them. These weapons can be further customized by modifications, allowing you to make some really insane combos.

Turrets and perks vary wildly, and are never scared to be unique and game changing. As an example, you spend the entire game rooted in place, only to later unlock a perk or turret that let you move using WASD , which completely changes up the game in a very fun way. While definitely kind of strong, these unlocks, and others of similar power are somehow still balanced, mainly because this game makes experementing with weaker options just as fun as using strong ones, especially when weaker options can be made beyond powerful with the right synergy. It's this level of commitment to experimentation and enjoyment of game mechanics that really got me hooked.

The only rough spots for this game is the early game meta-progression (purchasable upgrades), as you initially assume it matters a lot more than it does, when in reality, most of the meta-progression actually comes from challenge based unlocks. But the average player will realize that within the first 2 hours or so, so it's mostly a nothingburger in the end.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this game, it will entertain you for hours on end.

(Bonus, join the discord if you can, the dev is super nice and interacts with his players all the time, and is also spot on with fixing bugs and making tweaks).

Nova Drift is a game who’s nuances can’t really be described, until you actually play it. A love letter to the lightning fast pace of the roguelike genre, while also pulling inspiration from the arcade style gameplay of decades past. It’s fast, it’s fun, it’s incredibly dynamic and expansive in it’s customization, and it’s absolutely brutal, as any respective roguelite should be.

In its simplest form, the premise of nova drift is this: Blast asteroids and baddies, and use the EXP they drop to customize your ship. But in reality, it goes so much deeper than that.

I couldn't really talk about Nova drift without first mentioning the thing that gives it its namesake: The control scheme. I will admit. Nova drift IS NOT a twin stick shooter. Instead, you control your ship like you do in the classic arcade game “Asteroids.” You both fire and thrust in the direction you’re aiming. At first glance, the prospect of controlling your ship in this manner was not appealing to me. But after trying it out, I realized how smooth and integral to the gameplay it was. You really put the DRIFT in nova drift. Using your momentum to swing past enemies as you blast them, or ram into targets at great speeds is both integral to the core experience, and also many of the upgrades you can acquire.

And don’t even get me started on the upgrades. There are so many unique modifiers, each with their own unique function. You can stack them, and they can interact in interesting ways. More or less any playstyle is achievable with the system Nova Drift uses. Want to gun everything down with a minigun? Go ahead. Feeling lazy, and want to let minions do the work? You can do that too! Want to just say screw it all, and crash into enemies for fun? By all means, go for it! If you can think of a build, you can make it work.

Rounds are quick, ranging from 30 seconds, to 45 minutes at max, if you’re really good or really lucky, and the gameplay is smooth and never feels clunky or slow. In the end, I would highly recommend this game to anyone who needs something to do, even if it’s a bit out of your genre. My final rating.

Customization: 10/10
Visuals: 9/10
Gameplay: 9.5/10
Difficulty: 10/10

Overall: 10/10

Great game, please don't play it. You'll be trapped like I am. Escape before it's too late.

A strong rougelike for the ages. If you purchaced this game on mobile, and enjoyed it, or even if you just like rougelikes in general, be sure to pick this up, as I can assure you, it's filled with new stuff compaired to the mobile version. It honestly feels less like a port and more like a total remake. Fast paced gameplay, hours of fun. 100% recomend.
