Strife: Veteran Edition!
This old classic from 1996 often gets shadowed over from other similar games like Doom, Shadow Warrior, Blood etc.
But what separates Strife from said games, is its RPG-like elements mixed up with a 90's classic shooter creating a unique hybrid of a game. Though don't expect Fallout 1-like RPG elements, but I will admit it's still pretty unique that it manages to fuse together a 90's shooter with RPG.

The Story
Now, in most old school classic games, the story is either nothing complex or is usually unimportant.
But in Strife, A comet strikes your planet, releasing a virus within. Which decimates human civilization, and henceforth creates The Order. However a group of humans create The Front and try their best to fight The Order, that's when you; Strifeguy/Mercenary decided to work for The Front, before being caught and executed by The Order, but luckily for you....

The Gameplay
If you have played Hexen 1 before, then you might have an idea of how the gameplay mostly plays out.
So, the game is home to a massive hub level called the Town and from here you can access different maps like the Sewers, the Prison, the Power Station and so on. Later on you access the Borderlands and Order Commons which unlock more and harder levels.
Another thing worth mentioning is that, unlike other Doom-like games. In Strife, you talk and interact with characters to complete quests and progress the story or buying armor, ammo, weapons, medkits or even miscellaneous items.

The Music
The music is all composed by someone named Morey Goldstein. heh You will be hearing from 90's music all the way to more sinister pieces.

The Weapons
The Mercenary has a huge array of weapons to choose from. The Punch Dagger all the way to the Sigil, which absorbs the player's health but deals massive damage. Some weapons like the crossbow and the grenade launcher allow the player to use different ammunition suited for different situations.

Level Design/ Setting
A huge problem that old 90's shooters had was that you could get stuck very easily in a level trying to find a switch or finding an exit. But Strife has an automap which helps a lot if you happen to get stuck but even without the map I always managed to find my path, thanks to the suburb level design the game has. However, there are areas like the Sewers and to a lesser degree the Catacombs where players can get stuck. (myself included)
The setting is like this medieval like setting along with advanced technology, however as weird as it sounds it blends in SUPER well so it never really sticks out or anything like that.

Achievements
For those who care, the game comes with 20 unique achievements!
19 of which are singleplayer and only 1 being multiplayer.
Some are obtained normally while you progress, for others you have to look into secret areas or play harder difficulties.

Final Verdict
If you are someone who loves classic 90's shooters then having this game is a must-have because it is a CRIMINALLY underrated game.
My only gripes with the game is towards the end levels, i.e The Factory levels where you encounter powerful enemy waves after waves and in bloodbath difficulty they keep respawning. You can imagine how fun that is.
But if you can look past that, this is a really fun experience.

And my only true supper gripe I had is that this game never had a sequel. A game this awesome DESERVES a sequel.

Alright let's start with pros and cons:
Pros:

+The game has a great enviroment.

+It's free.(Meaning you do not need to own Half-Life 2)

+The game has well made weapons.

+It has good models (Including zombies and survivors)

+There's a variety of choosing characters including, (Pointman,Support,Assult,Technisian,Sniper)

+Has a very similar gameplay to Left 4 Dead 2

Cons:

-The game has Friendly fire

-Sometimes it can be hard as hell (and depends which mode your playing)

-The game's timer (After you placed the bomb) time can run very quickly (I'm not saying its impossible i'm saying it can be hard espicially if your stuck with hoards of zombies)

To sum up:
Overall, the game can be very fun if your doing the objective correctly and not staying in a single place.(And of course not causing Friendly fire and instead trying defending your teamates.)
I really recommend this game to people who aren't able to own Left 4 Dead 2 or playing with friends.

And of course exuse me if i have any grammar or spelling mistakes.English in not my primary languase.
