On today's episode of 'Modern Gaming Launch Blunders'
we have the VRAM Memory Leak on Day 1 for this game.
Great game overall, beautiful art, textures, character models,
picturesque and gorgeous rural Japan.
Godlike and cinematic masterpieces of musical accompaniment!
Engaging story with a strong lead! Slick combat and a decent parry system!
Until you get to Yokohama... (the first 'hub' of the game)
Then the game becomes COMPLETELY unplayable
and maxes out whatever VRAM you have.
Playing on literally the lowest settings possible? Too bad, loser. Still can't play.
Think I'm joking? Spend the money and find out.
Can't even give it a rating because it's not playable after the tutorial.

Seppuku/Harakiri out of 10

(Nioh 2 is one of my favorite games of all-time; for the record.)

Great game.
Loads of jank.
Procedurally generated missions... meh.
Very narrow weapon diversity.
Great community.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a Space Marine from "Deathwatch"
who has armor made of tin, paper-thin skin, and no blood in their body?
This is the game for you! Gone are the days of planet-conquering Astartes!
Don't worry! When you die there will be like 20 other 'Astartes' on the ship
to replace you... because that's how it works. These 'super soldiers' would
get absolutely wrecked by Master Chief at his weakest iteration. Utterly pathetic.
Sloppy combat mechanics and poor controller mapping.
Classes in Co-Op are limited, meaning, you cannot play as the same class as your friend.
Have two friends that want to run as Bulwark? Tough titties. One of them has to change or leave. Why does this matter? No idea. It's a Co-Operative experience, let people have fun.
Parts of this game feel like they were made over a decade ago; not in a good way.
Cool idea, poorly executed.

Oh, did I mention that it's permanently online?
Yes, even the single-player experience.
I had one bug or my internet being of poor-quality, where i was 'locked out'
of all content in the game. What I mean by this is,
I could not do anything other want wander the Battle Barge (joke of a 'lobby'),
or sit on the Main Menu. Nothing else. (For nearly 2 hours, and multiple restarts to 'fix.')
There is another bug where your shots will 'magnetize' to tops of stairs for some reason.
Speaking of, 'online features' the things you buy from DLC, you still have to unlock in game.
(Adding more banality to the tedious grind of '8 levels' of 'campaign.')

Estimated total playtime to complete game: 15 to 20 hours
Score: ♥♥♥♥♥-ass Space Marine simulator/10

Labor of Love?? Rockstar has let this wonderful, immersive, storybook
of a game lay and rot FOR YEARS!
YEARS of doing absolutely nothing, this year has been the same.
Wow, they brought back like 1 seasonal thing that was recycled from 5 years ago!
LABOR OF LOVE!! (Perhaps love of profit-margins...)
Not a single DLC or expansion in sight! Want to visit Mexico?! TOO BAD!
Script-kiddies galore on the game as well,
mirroring the abysmal GTA: Online experience, but without anything new.
Pathetic. Great game but unworthy of Labor of Love,
this game is as DEAD as the title, but without any redemption.

Hang'em high.

A certain needless DRM will eat the frame rate mid-fight. It will take the game from 60+fps to sub30fps.. also consuming inputs. It's wild that they would even include it in the game when you already need (yet another) third-party log in account. On top of this, content is subscription pay-walled on release, with a $60 price tag already attached.
(They expect another $30-50 a year in tribute from the masses.. plus a.. battlepass?!)

Still overall better than Street Fighter 5 by wide margins!
Rating: Denuvo/10

Devs had every opportunity to make this into a great game that is both challenging AND fun.
They took the incorrect turn at each fork in the road. Would be tolerable with co-op.

Someone needs to let game design companies/teams (such as this one!) understand that:
they are NOT From Software, they are NOT Nintendo EAD. etc...
And should focus on making a game fun, and addictive
rather than needlessly challenging for the sake of 'rep.'

The skeleton for a truly great game is here,
it's just rotten beneath the sacred ground of the 'souls-like' appellation.

The Devs have been taken by Tencent Genestealers!
RIP to one of the, potentially, cooliest games to ever exist.
Gameplay and level design are fantastic and immersive everything else is utter rubbish.
Yet another dev team puts out a 'golden turd' game... really sad.
Truly an insult to a loyal community, this will surely/hopefully be the final nail in Fatshark's 'premium' skinned coffin.

(Note: Can't even give this one a number rating, there are about 5 mission types and 7 levels, or something, and they are locked to specific missions/levels only.. weak.. not even a level select. Which makes sense for 'lore reasons' but honestly lazy. Barely even a game. This 'game' is almost identical to the BETA! I say "almost" because they sure rolled out that Premium currency shop mighty fast!! Again... weak. Oh, but they DID add one mission to a level that already existed! Pass.)

EDIT: Since original review i've gotten the game to work by dropping the settings to barebones and it still runs my CPU extra hard!! It still crashes often and seemingly randomly, sometimes during intial load; if I really want to play the game I have to 'brute force' through the crashes. (There may be 2-4 crashes per launch of the game for me.)
These are issues ONLY associated with the Steam version of the game, it's a decent game so far, pretty fun, cool environments.. but get it on another platform! (Like Epic or Stadia!)

Stopped running/functioning/working right at the 30 minute mark almost exactly!!
DONT GET SCAMMED! AVOID!!
I bought this since I can't play Vegas 2 online.. don't do it! Could be a great game, but who knows if it doesn't run..
(When it did run it was one of the most poorly optimized experiences I've had gaming on PC in my entire life... sad..)

Flashes of a good, fun, turn-based strategy game..
executes as a boring, lop-sided, wanna-be sports sim.
There's only 1 pass worthy of this title and that's to pass it by.

2 out of 10.

(Love the lore though but this game is a miss from me, dawg. Sad.)

The campaign in this game is great, the rest of the game is mostly a 'miss' for me.
Flight controls are wretched for example, seems to have been designed by someone who has never played any type of flight or combat flight sim game or even arcade flight shooters like Star Fox. (There is a way to implement fun and intuitive controls without necessarily making a combat flight sim; this game does neither in that regard.)
I'm personally not a fan of the Disney Star Wars expanded universe but I think that the campaign in this game carries it's own despite my own dislike of that.
Sound design, as with anything THX associated, is 'Maximalist' (the opposite of minimalist) and can probably be overwhelming to some but completely nails that cinematic feel that you love to experience in the Star Wars universe!
The FPS combat is fun when taken in small doses but becomes monotonous with extended play sessions.
Graphically what you see advertised is exactly what you get, does not disappoint in the 'eye candy' categories!
I think the PvP at the current meta is, obviously, heavily stacked towards the, apparently still abundant, 'no-life' players who know the ins-and-outs and nuances of PvP and potential minor exploits/advantages/whatever.
I would recommend this game for the campaign, if you like Star Wars (even the old skool stuff is what you prefer), the rest of it is 'a la carte' type action where you cater to your own tastes.

Verdict: Buy on sale!!! Single-player campaign and story is really good! The rest is 'meh' at best..
(I had difficulty even buying this game for $7 on the principle of all the shady schemes, loot boxes, etc that a certain horrid publisher loves/loved to make commonplace; I feel like even giving them a dollar of my money could be mistaken as 'support' of what they do or have done. YES, they have been eliminated in this title but they let it go on for ages and essentially forced kids to gamble on a freaking Star Wars casual game... SHAME!!)
Buy this game as cheaply as you can, the devs are already paid. The publisher deserves nothing for their atrocities to modern gaming; and it's current state.
