(Note that I'm doing this review after bringing my character to lvl 400 as NG+7 with 100% achievement)

As a Souls player, I can only recommend it. It's just an awesome game but let's make it simple : Even tho it's the easiest Souls game by far, you will still die a lot, this game is oriented for people that like spending a lot of time exploring everything before going into a boss fight or you will have to try-hard some of them. Learning the boss' pattern is necessary in most cases to manage to kill them.

Pros :
- A good way of discovering Souls games, you will always have some help if you need it on bosses (spirit ashes + an NPC if you do its side quest). Even the worst player can finish this game without loosing his mental health, wich wasn't the case in DS for example
- Game design 10/10 : Graphics aren't the best for 2022 but it's still a contemplative game, I spent a lot of time just looking around and appreciating how good it looked
- Level design 8/10 : Most places are a really good experience, still frustrating sometimes but you have such a good feeling after finally ending a zone. Some of them are quite boring because of how long it take to feel like you have progressed (like catacombs or Mountaintop of giants) but overall it's well done Fromsoft
- The lore : As usual the story behind is incredible, waiting for the DLC to learn more. If you didn't understand wait until you finish the game once to watch video on youtube about it, the community loves sharing this knowledge

Cons :
- Catacombs and some cave : there's a lot of them and it's redundant. Mostly the same story every single time for bosses that are rarely interesting, you basically do it for the reward and that's it
- The grinding : Most people that won't get spoil by tutorial on the internet will have to spend few hours grinding for runes in order to lvlup, this has always been a thing and yeah we can do it SL1 once you know the game but for new player it can be an issue.
- Lack of assistance for quests : I place it here as a cons even tho it shouldn't, but it's to warn people that never played a Souls before. Yes this game is much easier and nicer to indicate where to go compared to what we are used to in Souls. But still, if you never played one, you will have to either both read items and listen to NPC to know what you are willing to do, or find some guide on the internet depending on what you want.

Conclusion :
This game is basically a Souls game in open world adapted for newcomer, you will have some trouble just like in any other soul game, but this one have plenty of option to help you and if you wish a casual experience, you can have it at the cost of few more hours spent looking around and finding better gear or grinding for levels. For souls lover, only challenges are fun (SL1, one stat only, one weapon/spell only, etc) but since the variety of possibility is humongous, I thibk that every player will find its way to have fun here.
