The developers have made a huge mistake with this reborn - they've completely destroyed the look and feel of the game that made it so appealing.

This is exactly what I've been searching for in a game for so long.

I played The Last of Us back when it first came out on PS and I fell in love which that game: the storyline, the breathtaking cinematics.

Days Gone gives you this, but with an open-world feel added into it. Yeah I understand the negative reviews complaining about privacy, however, that doesn't stop this being one of the best games I've played in a long time, and something which I've enjoyed every minute of.

The storyline is great and actually quite captivating. When it comes to games of this ilk, like Valhalla, I tend to get bored of the storyline as it doesn't grip me. The storyline in Days Gone is great - the protagonist is relatable and not some jacked up God or anything.

Best thing I love about this game is the interaction with the Freakers - taking down hordes is just so much fun. But also, just riding around on a motorcycle is just so calming in its own way, until you get clotheslined by some marauders.

tl;dr: great story, great gameplay, ignore the negative reviews

10/10 would play again

I was sceptical about this game at first: I've played Minecraft, Rust, 7 Days To Die, Conan, ARK, etc. However, it's really good. The graphics aren't amazing and that put me off at first, but the gameplay is really good. It's the right difficulty, and really challenges you. The building is great fun too - I've built longhouses and castles. There's so much to do and build in the game.

tl;dr - it's a great concept but falls short of its potential

Pros:
- The concept is great, essentially watching as apes evolve slowly over millennia to become like their ♥♥♥♥ sapien descendants
- Once you work out what's going on, swinging through trees is kinda fun (except when you can't see where you're going and you swing into nothingness)
- The "levelling" systems are good (there are essentially 3) and the way that you have to repeat certain actions to increase your evolutionary traits is cool
- Huge map

Cons
- It feels incomplete. I'd want to be able to actually get to a point where I can build a community, complete with make-shift shelters, but essentially all you're able to do with your evolutionary traits is eat more, intimidate and fight better, and be able to identify things from further away (oh and stand up),
- The movement system is crap. It says to play on a controller, but because there are so many commands, it's all too complicated on the controller. "A" is to run, jump, swing and apply things. So many times I've fallen from trees because I've been trying to run and it's made me jump off instead.
- Crafting is pretty basic - we're used to games like ARK and Rust where you can build things properly. I know that it's supposed to be realistic, but use some artistic license to create more stuff. We don't even get to build fire, or shelters.
- Every time you do the big level up (which is a few millennia), it moves you from where you are, which is annoying. I'm a completionist and I want to be able to gradually discover stuff, not randomly turn up somewhere else.
- The quests that make you find places is crap for this reason as the map is absolutely huge, so you can never find the next stage on your quests

This game is fun to play on a discount - don't buy at full price.

To be honest I just love how informative the team are. They're constantly posting news about what's coming up on social media and they're constantly making improvements and changes to the game. Keep it up!

8 hours into the game so far and I'm really enjoying it.

Gameplay-wise it feeds into my explorer/completionist needs - while most maps can be completed and never returned to for those who just want to play through the basic storyline, there is still a lot to explore and many puzzles to be completed that lay beyond the basic narrative. It very much reminds me of Tomb Raider, especially with the way you unlock more as you go through the game.

The combat can be a bit clunky, but isn't dissimilar to other titles of this ilk. You definitely need to be tactical with fights and it's not a button-mash as I've so desperately tried to do. Still feels amazing to smash a blaster bolt back at a stormtrooper.

I was a bit worried about the story, but so far it's been interesting enough to keep me hooked. It delves into a time of Star Wars post Order 66 where there are very few Jedis around, and the main protagonist isn't annoying which helps.

For those worrying about an EA game with lots of things to buy, so far I haven't seen any in-game microtransactions which is a massive relief.

I've been looking for a decent single player experience recently, and I'd definitely endorse this to others looking for the same.

A really fantastic game.

TLDR;
Pros:
- Great storyline
- Ability to choose your path

Cons:
- Sometimes interactions could be clunky
- Very linear

I really enjoyed this game - the main reason why is the storyline. It's a unique story, which explores 14th Century France, really melding in well to the events of the time and expanding upon them.

Visually it's a lovely game, with great detail being given to the time period, and the various oddities that were around at that point. It was disturbing, but not in an overly gory way, but one that respected death (in my opinion). For example, you could feel that the main protagonist was affected by having to kill people.

Gameplay-wise, it was really good fun working out how to get round certain scenarios with the tools that you have, and, especially towards the end, creating a combination of things to get past enemies with or without killing them. One issue I had was sometimes the auto-aim wouldn't work properly, or pathing was a bit frustrating, but that was rare. The game was very linear, which wasn't so much of an issue, but I felt sometimes that I was being forced down a certain path.

This is definitely a game I would spend money on again, and I'll keep an eye out for anything which Asobo Studio creates in the future.
