This game is mostly broken and has bad default options. The joystick control causes the game to be unplayable to new players as you can't even move your camera around without it flicking back to a default placement.

I was expecting a classic deathmatch game and I somewhat got that. I say somewhat because the assets are a miss-match of various old game sounds and textures and if I'm honest, you would be better off playing Quake Live with friends on lan.

There's no playerbase and overall there's no point in buying this unless you just want to support the developers.

This game is really fun and the mechanics of quake III arena are all pretty much the same. I've been playing since the early days of Quake III and I finally got bored with playing it and and lost my CD. I found this game by total chance and decided to see how much it would cost and found out it was free and went in, played the practice mode and went right into my first match and did just as good as I would have in Quake II. I went in having the expectation I'd be destroyed right off the spawn but I was totally wrong and enjoyed it quite a bit so far. I would totally recommend it for old and new players alike as it's easy as hell to get into!

It's pretty fun to modify, works pretty well, has the same charm of most goldsource games and has the half-life campaign for free. Who can argue with that? Plus I've had countless good times with friends playing that old they-hunger mod. So you can use half-life mods with this from what I can tell. It's just plain fun!

This is the one game that makes spending 2,000 hours of your life seem worth it. The amount of addons are that are created are amazing! Some bad, more good than bad as the good drowns out the bad usually. It's one of those games where physics are good enough to do realistic-esc projects using devices created from scratch with scrap and creativity so to speak.

In general, I love this game and recommend it to those who like sandbox games with real-life based physics or a person who really likes half life 2, or any of the other source games ported to it.

But keep in mind, you most likely need to own the original source game to use the assets in-game.
