A log of people struggle to find any meaning in this game. The "a mile wide inch deep" comment is commonly used but the fact is that the game is more a sand box or a simulator than an MMO.

It won't provide much of a storyline to follow.
It won't tell you where you should go.
It won't provide much for beginners except a couple of rudimentary training sessions.

The main storyline will come from you. You get your ship and you decide how you are going to have fun.
Maybe you might want to rack up billions and trade or smuggle. Or you see yourself as a bounty hunter.
Or maybe you want to explore the 400 billion planets and stars in the game.
Or perhaps you see yourself as a badass who wants to ruin as many people's days as you can and pirate.

Whatever you decide, Elite is for the thinking person who doesn't need some scripted storyline to get through the game.

If you do decide to buy this game remember two important things:
1. Always make sure you have insurance
2. The big ships don't make the game any better and are not the end goal.
