As an older English driver this still is just about the best for all round stuff :)

Very very nice pack except the CIG is erroneous for the Chatham Main Line as only CEPs with or without MLV's worked to the coast from Victoria and the only time you would have seen a CIG is if it was passing over head at Penge East.

Def some good gear in here for the money :)

I enjoy this although to get your own town is long long winded and very tricky, making money is quite simple once you work out the prices and the naval combat was considered top dog in its time is very old and slow today but still quite good if not quite realistic in lacking things like front and aft gunnery.

It does work in Win 7/8, all you have to do is set the compatibility in the program launcher to 98/Me and works spot on.

The only downside is really attacking pirate lairs, the 10 towers can be incredibly boring and they are immensely overpowered if you are in anything less than a military frigate or ship of the line and can reduce your mighty vessel into sawdust quite swiftly, the other ♥♥♥♥♥♥ is that in naval combat you get one ship to control but the opponent has up to 5 and as soon as you relinquish control of one for another, the first one runs away.

Actually for what was a cheap and austere train unit, the EPB/HAP survived 14 years longer than expected and was one of the most reliable trains BR operated, the DLC of this is incredibly well detailed, the blinds, the carriage interior, the whine and whinny of the traction as it motors up through the notches, the sound of the EPB in operation is very authentic.

I grew up with these trains, in fact its one of the few I have actually driven and been up close and personal with, whether at work with my signalman father say at Orpington A/B or when I worked at Waterloo or Norwood myself on the railways, even the little buffer hanger clips are there and the single buffer system these used within the unit.

It "feels" like an EPB and one hopes DTG will release the blue, original green and jaffa liveries as well as scenarios for L2F HS and L2B and the PDL where this train worked hard as well.

I'm a great fan of this loco in game, its very sturdy, not too finicky, has a great turn of power and you can get quite a sparkling drive out of this little gem.

Some of the included scenarios are truly great fun, if you like steam then this would be a good addition to your collection as you do get the real feel of being in control and taking her on runs like Western Lines of Scotland, along the Quantocks from Templecombe to Bath or even along the main lines can be rewarding and this engine is at home anywhere on the network as it worked from the far north all the way to the deep west under BR colours with its only scarcity being Southern Region, it was favoured too for Brentwood bank by its drivers which would see lesser engines stalled halfway up.

The class 90 has since moving out from GEML realms, become quite the common or garden engine because of its versatility in everything from freight, mail and even sleeper trains.

Based on the older class 86/87's, it was a close run thing that this ended up with gradual controls rather than having the tap type controls of its parentage, complete with a very good speed set control, normal and advanced modes of startup, realistic DSD add to the flavour of driving this smooth engine and with additional freeware livery packs available out there makes this a very good loco for your collection.

Now most people will know what a Deltic is but this is the "son of" Deltic, its drive gear completely interchangeable with Deltics, 37's and other EE derived units and it indeed inherited quite a bit from the mighty Deltic and is every bit as capable as its forebear.

Sadly, the 50 didn't capture the hearts of the rail community as the Deltic, the Western or the Warship types yet in this game, the 50 is very smooth, very predictable, excellent braking and superb sounds as she "hoovers" away, 100mph plus as well and able to pull a weighty train at those speeds makes this a worthy engine to add to your collection.

Now these are engines you want to get right or they would be terribly terribly wrong and these engines are absolutely brilliant to drive in real mode, legacy mode, simple or expert controls.

They are fast, really fast and it doesn't take a genius in rocket science to get them reliably past the 100mph mark and you have the real feeling of "control", whether you are running with an auto fireman or stoking and driving, it is one of the must have steam packs for steam fans and is very well done I think.

This to me is the ultimate BR electric engine, the howling of the engine, the regen brakes, the crackle of the pantograph and the hum of 25Kv being rectified a mere 3 ft above you adds to the great ambience of this train which despite being withdrawn by BR, still has many privately owned engines in long term contracts because they are that reliable in real life.

In a way, this is to electric traction, what the 37 or 47 was for diesel and a culmination of several classes 80-85 that led to this final design, it carried on its legacy too with the 87 and the 90, the tap changer control is very hard it seems to master but when you do, it gives you a great feeling of accomplishment and you really do feel "in control".

This is for me a must have if you are a fan of British engines from the blue era.
