For as long as I can remember Hollywood has never made a good movie based on a video game; now out of nowhere some Russian company founded in 2014 has actually made the first game to movie adaptation that is actually good. They are so unknown that Google basically has no hits except for a Facebook page that as of writing only has "11 people who like this" and "14 people who follow this". Watch and learn Hollywood.

Animu sidescrolling MOBA? Why not? Awesomenauts was a pretty good game and it was a side scrolling MOBA. Holy sh!t was I wrong. The controls are bad by default unless you have a controller (which I didn't have at the time). Sure you could try and redo the bindings, but games shouldn't get a free pass at that if you don't allow the option upfront and ask to force a sh!t experience down your throat. (Technically you do if you choose to skip the prologue and then try to get into the settings, once you start the "recommended" prologue you're f@cked.) That's my largest complaint.

Somethings that may or may not bother you:
1) You have to sign into your Nexon account for this one, if that matters to you or not.
2) The game is handled by Nexon so you can probably guess how they failed to properly handle promotional materials and how they will continue to handle the game in the future, The "login" launch week promotion was not properly explained on their website or on the Steam page. You'll find it from the news feed link in game that will open your browser outside of the game. From the beginning I get this feeling that they either had no budget or had no idea how to hype their game, which is ironic considering the name.
3) The servers are ♥♥♥♥ and the tutorial in a test of pain endurance. Some people might be lax on this issue considering it's launch day; but the servers are ♥♥♥♥ and if you disconnect at any point, even near the end of the prologue (long ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tutorial), you will have to restart the whole thing from the very beginning (assuming you want the rewards for completion). This one is made worse if you didn't redo bindings or have a controller handy.
4) SJW appeasing self censorship.

This game cannot be recommended in good conscious for a variety of reasons, which I will cover below. Starting with a look at the relaunch and a look original, then a look at the company in terms of questionable business and moral decisions, and finally a look at the community and what to expect out of it. Both the good and the bad without exaggeration; based largely on facts with some opinions interjected. The review will also have to reference other games to give context about the above in terms of gauging, and will cover other Funcom releases as well as non-Funcom releases.

(This review also mentions dating periods for verification; it was also written and revised/rewritten from the headstart of SWL to the imminient Steam release. All information is double checked and verified before posting of this review. Some segments may be left to showcase how things were, and there should be a reference of changes mentioned.)

Also don't judge my Steam play time. I've been playing the non-Steam versions of this game and will continue doing so. The play time for this game is for Steam Cards and to actually post a review.

Due to the limit of how large a review can be I have made a Steam Guide to cover the review in actual depth.

July 21, 2017 Update: SWL just released on Steam and I was going to give the upcoming event (The Whispering Tide) a go since I was unable to try it the first time; but I get an error saying that I must convert my Funcom account to a Steam account, despite having never logged onto either game through Steam. It is a personal pet peeve of mine to have something as simple and basic as the freedom to choose to play SWL through Steam or not. It gets harder and harder to stick with this game. And I was still actively playing and was planning to do so, but in case you didn't hear there's also this bug where converting your account may also drop your Patron (subscription status). If you're curious as to what my luck was it can be answered with a simple, "F@ck you too Funcom. F@ck you too."

November 22, 1017 Update: There were a few things to clarify that I should probably put in the guide review, but Steam wants me to update a review for their 2nd Games Nomination Badge thing. Addressing the community section in the review and where I was less than favorable about the playerbase I should clarify that there are no real classes per se, the type of gear you slot and the glyphs you use determine your "class" so the person who did that unlinked YouTube review as well as the occasional person you might see saying "I chose a mage so I'm naturally squishy" is as I said before; a ♥♥♥♥♥♥. And since the orignal review to now I have seen what I expected and warned you all. this game is a shadow of itself and only the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ actually like it. Even the slowest and thickest of the fans have come around and managed to undo change the recent reviews on Steam to negative and get this game a mixed reception.
Another side note is that TSW has removed certain items from the store such as the Initiate pack and some other things that I can't recall, as well as jacked up the price of other things in the cash shop, namely the rainbow unicorm mount from what was once 20 USD or something to now over 100 or something retarded. Guess Funcom realized they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up once again and once they saw people going back to TSW they decided to bone them in the rectum once more time. I can't recommend even TSW because of the promise of no future updates and how they have moved it to even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and laggier servers than before.
