An excellent puzzle game, now with community levels too.

I'm told that Civ 6 is a good game, and some of the mechanical changes sound good, but the presentation feels kinda lifeless to me. It doesn't have the magic that I need to make a 4X feel like a game rather than work.

I refunded this and I'd recommend instead Old World by Mohawk Games or Endless Legend or Humankind by Amplitude studios. If you get Endless Legend, I recommend the Endless Legend Community Patch, to make the world feel more alive by making the AI better and less passive.

It's a fun couch multiplayer game!

Our main issue was that when we introduced new players to the game (often these were guests coming to our house for a party or something) they would get killed too quickly because the other players would forget to slow down a bit while the new person learnt the game.

A better handicap system might have helped, or a mode where you have to keep grouped together while gradually going faster as a group, rather than the normal race mode.

Early Access Review
This is a fantastic game! It's the tactical puzzles of "Into the Breach" mixed with the runaway engine building potential of "Monster Train", and you can bring friends with you!

It's been delightful following it along in Early Access and seeing the smart changes the devs have made to improve the formula :)

Griftlands is a fun deck builder that tells good stories. Each of the three campaigns features an iconic main character; interesting variety in abilities both for yourself and your opponents; and tells a different and always delightful story with some great laughs.

A fourth campaign is available as a mod. Search for "Arint".

This is a delightful game with a powerful narrative that doesn't pull any punches. Possibly the best narrative-heavy game that I've played. I played through the story once and feel satisfied with that, but I can see myself playing it again in a few months or next year once I've forgotten a bit more of how it goes.

If you enjoy this then I also recommend: Citizen Sleeper; Christine Love's games; Griftlands; and maybe Suzerain.

It's a great game, especially with the variety added by the anniversary patch.

There's not much to it and it's quite slow. Not my kind of thing.
