Doesn't have the same reputation that games like Deus Ex and System Shock 2 have, but it arguably provides a much better experience with vast player freedom and more opportunities for emergent game-play than either of those two titles combined.

The sort of "myths" surrounding the original Deus Ex (i.e. that you can play the game as a complete pacifist) actually hold true for a game like Prey (2017). Yet, Prey (2017) doesn't get the same praise. Prey (2017) contains all the elements that games dubbed "immersive sims" or "0451 games" are praised for -- cranked to 11. Yet, it doesn't quite get the accolades that it deserves. Sure, this game has received a very warm critical reception upon release, but it does not get the same reverence in passing mention that games like Thief and Deus Ex do. I think that is a shame.

If you love games like Deus Ex, Bioshock, System Shock 2, or Dishonoured, then it is worth mentioning this game has the same game design philosophy of all those games pushed to its most extreme. This game is literally targeted towards someone like you. If you haven't given it a try yet, I highly recommend that you do.

If you are big fan of Doom Eternal and you are a fan of retro shooters as a whole (Quake, Duke Nukem, Doom, etc.), then I would think it very unlikely that you would dislike this game.
