I just started playing this game again this week. I can see why people are leaving.

I got the legacy bundle since there's the sale going on for the Black Friday stuff. The thing is, the legacy bundle doesn't include access to dungeons for 2 of the expansions included in the bundle.

The reason for my negative review? Let's break it down.

1. Access to the 2 expansion dungeon keys is 4,000 Silver (the premium microtransaction currency in this game) and you can't buy the keys on Steam. That 4k Silver is another $30+ USD. That is insane.

2. Some things in this game are locked behind access to new gear, which is from the newer content. So, if you want to join PVP you can't use ANY of your old gear and might as well make them cosmetics.

3. On top of old gear sometimes locking you out of content, the changes to the Light system means ALL of your old gear is now light level 10 (as in new player low level).

I've only got 10 hours back into this game so I'm sure there are going to be a ton more offenses to rant about, but as of right now those 3 are huge issues to me because it is a blatant cashgrab.

They're forcing you to pay for up to date gear to fully access game features while simultaneously splitting expansions up into multiple purchases, effectively locking you out of things that SHOULD BE INCLUDED when you buy the expansion pass.

I'm still absolutely dumbfounded at the fact someone greenlit this business model at Bungie. People are extremely valid for leaving this game. I can't imagine what a lot of veteran players have seen in the time I haven't been playing. I'm sure I can check online for video essays on the downfall of Bungie/Destiny but I don't need another headache right now.

After any reasonable length of gameplay and community interactions, you WILL hear about the Gold Ship incident.

Picked this up at half off. It's a fun and interesting enough game, however I wouldn't recommend it currently due to crashes during matches.

It's not always the worst, but when it happens more than once when you've just about killed an NPC only to log back in to find you've been destroyed it really gets old fast.

Now, I would love to see this game improve and succeed. I really enjoy the game mechanics and everything. If the crashes didn't happen, I'd absolutely recommend this. It's just very stressful to lose all of your stuff multiple times for something out of your control. If my stuff got destroyed in a fair fight, I have zero qualms about that...but losing it to game errors is aggravating and encouraging others to join in for similarly unpleasant experiences seems more destructive than helpful.

If updates happen in the near future and game stability reasonably improves, I'd definitely consider changes to this review but for now it's a no from me.

This demo has been a ton of fun. I went into it hoping to enjoy the mechanics but only expecting minimal polish. The truth is, the progression system is great and not too grindy or anything. Once you get the hang of the gameplay loop, it's pretty smooth.

The creatures are cute af as well and getting to play as them and see how powerful they are is awesome. The cosmetics are tied to the evolution progression of each creature which I think is pretty cool and it looks like you'll eventually have the option to customize their looks with the unlocked pieces.

It looks like there's only access to 1.5 evolution trees. The first creature looks to be entirely accessible while the 2nd one only has half available due to only getting drops for the first 2 elements. You get access to toxins and fire and the 2nd creature will have an ice path when that comes around.

I've played all of the available content so far, but I'll be coming back to this a few times to fully unlock the evolution trees to see what all of the creature abilities and looks are.

Oh yeah, and the mission types are great. There are a few survival types of missions alongside some with specific objectives and bigger maps to explore. I'm looking forward to seeing what else becomes available as time goes on and honestly will likely pick it up as soon as it is available for purchase.

TLDR: Really fun gameplay, really interesting progression system, and cute creatures with a lot of power

So, I've basically been bedridden the last couple weeks due to disabilities. Been in a horribly frustrating situation where medical insurance confusion was preventing me from getting my meds. Long story short, my physical pain climbed the longer I was off my meds to the point where just going to get food in the kitchen was straining.

This is where my search for mouse only games came in. Even using a controller while laying down was highly uncomfortable, but using just the mouse was as comfortable as I could be to game. I put a list together of games that didn't require much to play and Slay the Spire was the first one I tried out.

I'm going to be honest...this game is really fun and incredibly creative. It's been a great way to pass the time while I rest up and get my medical stuff sorted.

I love card games like MTG and I love roguelikes such as Dead Cells. The way this game combines deck building and adventuring is extremely entertaining. The classes are interesting and the different relics, potions, and various events really make this game feel different during each run.

It's fun to find the different ways that the cards play out. Trial and error can be harsh but rewarding. Like, when the game says you can get this relic at the cost of never being able to heal again...they really mean your health won't be going up the rest of the run and that can be...bad.

That said, I've probably done like 20 runs in this game with like 5 being successful and I keep learning new things about the way things interact and behave. It really feeds my desire to learn and provides ample opportunities to be creative with my approach to gameplay.

I finally got my situation with insurance sorted today, so I will be branching out into normal gaming options again soon, but I will always have Slay the Spire in my library as a go-to favorite.
