The songs do not seem to use the "key sound" feature. The music itself is made up of what seems like relatively short tracks that loop, then fade out.

The only reason to buy this at full price is if you desperately want to have the highest possible DJ Power for your rank.

I can't properly put my feelings about this game into words. Hypnospace Outlaw captures the feeling of my internet browsing in the early 2000s as a kid. The viruses found throughout Hypnospace are especially a big hitter, almost perfectly recreating the experience of having the wallpaper change to something slightly alarming and having small things inexplicably change in the OS while popups halt regular navigation of the OS.

The only real limitation of Hypnospace is the homepage being an index of some publicly available pages, making it feel more akin to MySpace than the internet. Structuring the immediately reachable pages to be more narrow is good for maintaining a starting flow for all players, but seemingly ignores the backbone of real internet browsing: the search engine. However, with most pages having tags and the in-game search option including the ability to find a page based on the contents of it, sleuthing and exploring isn't as hard as the ever apparent index makes it seem.

No game has made me feel smart like Hypnospace Outlaw. Going in blind, much of the game is closed off until the player pieces some side bits of information together to discover something new, which may lead to a plethora of secrets and journeys. There were very few times I felt the game had a wall in front of me. A very large portion of the game I experienced was patiently waiting for me to carefully unfold it, rather than standing tall as an unsolvable puzzle only meant to be challenged by ARG sleuths.

Hypnospace Outlaw is best played by someone who has strong nostalgia for the late-90s and early-2000s internet eras. It wouldn't be a surprise if players unfamiliar with older websites and programs are unable to quickly figure out how to navigate Hypnospace further than a surface level. Nonetheless, the game is something special. If you decide to try it out, do yourself a favor and go in completely blind. Small bits of information on Hypnospace Outlaw could ruin the sense of mystery the entire experience carries.

If you buy this game, there's a zero percent chance a woman will interact with you in the future.
