I was extremely cynical about this DLC when I saw there was no campaigns and they were almost all old scenarios. However having watched TheViper play the Ragnar campaign for (too) many hours I decided to take a chance on this and I have to say that the improvements to the Ragnar scenario alone are great, I remember deleting it after an hour when I tried it 2 years ago.

These scenarios are actually deeper than most of the campaigns, so don't get thrown by that like I did initially. If anything there are too many things to do but a serious campaign fan will get their moneys worth out of this. Likewise, anybody who played the LoTR maps back in the olden days will get a giddy sense of nostalgia from the ridiculous number of side objectives in Ragnar alone. I may update this later but I feel like its worth it as of now.

Have to change my recommendation, the game has gone from definitive edition to 'aoe 2.4'. If they insist on adding every aoe4 feature then people might as well just play that instead. If you want to play your childhood game then there are many ways to play it outside this farce of a product.

Cannot start.

An interesting game, incredibly addictive.

Be prepared for disaster at any moment and don't be too proud to run away.
