This is a great game, even in 2025. Feels just like you're playing a character in an old Noire detective fillm. Great story based in the late 40's, in fictional (but pretty accurate) L.A.

Mafia: The Old Country goes back to the original successful Mafia formula. Rather than trying to create a game and story centered around an open world (like Mafia 3), they rein things in a bit and keep the story line a bit more linear (like in Mafia 1 and 2). The story is great so far, the game is absolutely gorgeous, and the gameplay is as fun as ever. If you like the Mafia games, definitely check this one out.

While it is extremely unfortunate that the devs have begun censoring parts of the game in order to get it on consoles, it is still a phenomenal game. It's essentially SWAT Team simulator, and they generally don't hold back on the horrific nature of the calls that you have to respond to. There is a school shooting level, a nightclub shooting level (reminiscent of the Pulse nightclub shooting), and plenty more of the absolute worst that humanity has to offer. The unfortunate reality is that these are calls that real law enforcement have to respond to, and facing that reality by interacting with a virtual version of it is sobering.

I played Skyrim growing up and never got to experience Oblivion firsthand. I had seen gameplay of it, but never had the patience to go back and play it. Having played Skyrim several times through over the years (thanks Bethesda for re-releasing the same game about a million times on different consoles or in new "editions"), this is both refreshingly familiar and a breath of fresh air at the same time. I have all the creature comforts I'm used to having from Skyrim (such as the ability to sprint), a whole game's worth of "new" content that I haven't experienced before (since I never played Oblivion), and beautiful, shiny new graphics to boot. What's not to like?

Runs great on my PC, runs OK on my Steam Deck. Doesn't look all that great on Steam Deck, unfortunately.

The Last of Us: Part 1 is one of my favorite games of all time, ever.

The Last of Us: Part 2 is completely irredeemable dogsh!t. I'm 5 hours in, so unfortunately past the refund period, but I won't be playing any more of it. The story of Part 1 was its greatest strength. Part 2's story would be laughably bad if it didn't make me so godd@mn angry. TLoU Part 1 deserved a better sequel. Don't waste your time and money on this garbage. And that's without even mentioning the constant crashes I had during my first 4 hours of playtime.

One of my favorite games of all time. This was the game that got me into the Far Cry series.

I recommend picking it up. Maybe wait for a sale, but even just 20% off wouldn't be a bad price for this one. I was hesitant to pick up the game, even at 10% off right after launch, due to the bugs/crashes that people were experiencing around launch and moreso than anything else due to the fact that A-Life was not working correctly and AI behavior was pretty awful. However, after update 1.1.1 (and the patches released after update 1.1.1), A-Life seems to be significantly improved (the AI are more lifelike and less predictable, and I haven't seen any enemies spawn in in front of my eyes like people were seeing before 1.1.1) and I have hardly run into any bugs at all. The only crash I've had was at the main menu while shaders were compiling, so I never lost any game progress due to a crash.

The game is absolutely gorgeous, and runs pretty well for me (usually around 80 FPS from what I've tested). For full transparency, here are my specs:
-Nvidia RTX 4070
-AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
-64GB DDR4 RAM
-Game is running on an Acer Predator 2TB GM7000 SSD

I'm enjoying it. If you like South Park the show, you will probably like this game. Unless you have an serious aversion to turn-based RPGs, in which case maybe avoid this one.

I had an incredible amount of fun with this game when it first came out, and they continued adding content for much, much longer than I ever would have anticipated. They just added achievements to Steam to boot, which I didn't think would ever happen (because Ubisoft). Worth playing even in 2024/2025.
