Currently a not recommend because there's some really badly designed mechanics in the game. For a first game by a single dev it's honestly not bad but I'd wait a bit for a few more patches.

As a lot of the negative reviews have said the tier 3 boss needs a complete overhaul. It takes some mechanics from Risk of Rain 2 final boss but implements it in the most unfun way possible that kills build variety and makes it a pure dps check. The final boss may as well just run the numbers and see if you can beat it or not since there's no other skills involved.

The meta progression mechanics are inspired by Vampire Survivor but again also in badly designed way where you need to spend coins to unlock them after the initial unlock through achievements which imo is purely just to artifically increase play time.

Highly recommend if you enjoy a good scifi management game. It's a really polished single player survival/base building game with a good story which is pretty rare nowadays.

Definitely not a city builder but more of a puzzle game like Patchworks. If you've played Patchworks before this is essentially a deeper single player version. You start off with familiar Tetris pieces and the goal of making the biggest city and then start unlocking bonus goals and different city's with different kinds of pieces to work with. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a chill puzzle game.

Really well made city/engine builder game. Think Catan with deeper mechanics and if the rng aspect was fun. I'd guess the main story takes about 6+ hours and if you're trying to complete everything then there's way more content like side stories, puzzles, and other extras.

Highly recommend. Unlike some of the reviews I personally liked this one over the first one.

First off, game length, which might not be that relevant to some but I finished the first game and all its DLC in about 10ish hours, while this game took me 13 hours or so just for the base game. The cases themselves are generally smaller and more bite sized but there are more puzzles and scrolls to fill out.

Another thing I noticed was that the first one(plus DLC) had a couple of cases where I feel like the words were interchangeable and even though I got the story correct in my head I would spend some time guessing what the correct wording is that they're looking for. In Rise I felt like they've mostly fixed that issue and the cases are more about figuring out what happened than guessing what word should go into which blank.

Story and the new art direction wise it's just as good as the first game. But yeah if you liked the first game definitely buy this. If you like mystery, detective games also highly recommend but probably play the first one first even if they're only somewhat connected.

Man I hate leaving negative reviews for indie games but the bottom line is its just too short and doesn't even have much game play at that. I finished the game in 73 minutes and I even messed up on a few recipes, and most of the recipes pretty much just involves clicking and dragging thing in different orders.

The story while touching and super relatable to me, felt like it didn't really have depth because of the short game length.
It's almost like it was written by the main character because it just touched upon the most surface level immigrant family issues and did not go deeper because at the end of the day they didn't understand the struggles and sacrifices their parents had to make.
