An Absurdität nicht zu überbieten. Der Killer spielt sich schlimmer als ein Autounfall. Verbuggte Hitboxen und das bei Release. Stark. Neben den Voicelines die jeder feiert liefert BHVR wieder den größten brennenden Scheißhaufen ab.

- Atmospheric Horror at its peak with one small issue -

Escape the Backrooms is a great horror game. It really encapsules the atmosphere - the sheer loneliness and emptiness this dark abyss shows us.

The multiplayer was one of the most fun parts of it. It was super challenging and felt so rewarding to find new strats to pass a level or to get it done quicker.

As well, the overall mechanics feel very smooth while playing. Also, I adore that the developer kept his word and frequently drops new quality content. Even the monsters we´re revamped and are more terrifying than ever!

One major critique: Path finding in this game - it´s a bloody mess. Many levels are a come alive hell. The Electrical Station would be a good example for that. Another example: In that exact level we get introduced to killer moths. We get told that pipe valves are there to counter them and keep them away. Alright. But in the Cave System in the newest update, we get a similar hint, that refers to that exact strat. But guess what, you must crouch around the killer moth to get through the small hallway.

The path finding and hints in this game are an absurd mess, which confuse and frustrate more than anything else. I really look forward to changes to that in the upcoming updates.

- Unbeaten at the top, but ... for how long? -

I started playing Dead by Daylight in 2021. Back then and also today, it is pretty amazing. I love it in so many ways. The variety of survivors, the killers, the different interesting franchises BHVR greeted us with and the many special lores about each and every single character in the game.

The game itself is a asymmetrical 4 vs 1 game. Ceaseless fights about play styles like tunneling, camping, gen rushing and so on often cause fury outbursts from both sides - which is understandable. Even though both sides are right that it is annoying and sometimes overwhelming to deal with, it is definitely not the biggest problem the game has. And the biggest problem is not the people being toxic - every community has toxic persons and black sheep - but it is rather BHVR itself.

Unchallenged at the top, BHVR has no actual competitors. Even VHS was let down from the community rather quickly, even though its start was quite promising. BHVR has many personalities and developers portraying themselves as people who don't know anything about their own game. Game breaking bugs often linger for a long time in the game (http://steamproxy.net/steamstore) as the one currently in game - the problem is that BHVR doesn't prioritize these things directly onto their To-Do-List. Legitimate, why don't they just do that? What is stopping them? A lack of competition? A huge player base?

Besides that, one of the biggest problems as well is SBMM. It is just not there. Or rather, it's based on a ridiculous system. And in the end, it turns the game into a vicious spiral of sweat from both sides, into the necessity of sweating and bringing the strongest perks and add-ons every match to win, to have fun.

I sometimes get angered by the game, of course. But, that is just the small part.
Over all, I absolutely adore this game for its uniqueness and replayability. But BHVR needs to get in touch with their community and rework so many things, especially SBMM, which at the moment, does not exist at all.

- Review | Lunch Lady -

Lunch Lady is similar to the concept of SlenderMan The Game. But nethertheless it is pretty fun to speedrun or to farm achievements - there is always a challenge for you to find. The AI is overall pretty good and the jumpscares sometimes even spooked me, mostly because of the tension as she was right behind me.
A big bonus is the huge variety of maps and small details of sound effects, for example rain on the rooftop on the newest university map.

What I really do wish for would be a chase theme for the Lunch Lady. It would definitly tensen up the game. Maybe as well as an idea arcade modes where you have to collect all 10 pages in a specific timeframe. As well more achievements, for example for closing pipes or being chased by the Lunch Lady would add up to the grind factor, making it more fun in my opinion. Because currently closing the pipes serve no use other than being a small obstacle to overcome.

• Long have we waited – only to be faced by a big disappointment. •

I bought the game and was full of excitement. I love FNaF and its lore and even though the atmosphere is super tense and fitting, I have huge problems with this game.


• MAJOR PERFORMANCE ISSUES •
...while in some areas, especially Roxy's Raceway or the main stage.

• GAME BREAKING BUGS •
E.g., Freddy bugging and therefore not being able to continue, glitching inside objects so you have to restart, animatronics obviously glitching around the map or doors just not opening due to being buggy.

• BAD AI •
Regarding the animatronics, e.g., them not catching you as you sit right in front of them or they catch you somewhere where it doesn´t make any sense.

• BAD MISSION DESIGN •
Often you get lost as the pizza complex is enormous or you don´t even know what to do or where to search for. One bad example of mission design is the maze on the 3rd floor.

• SPOILER – THE ENDING •
As we were all hyped for Vanny, if you do actually just leave after 6am as that is an option, you only have seen her maybe once or twice for a few seconds. That´s underwhelming to say the least.
UPDATE: Even if you continue after 6am, you roughly get a glimpse of her. And only then only in comic book cutscenes.


Summarizing: Please wait or do not buy this game at all! Even playthroughs aren´t enjoyable atm because they also have often major performance issues. As I listed all these problems, it´s honestly just sad for me. I was truly excited for the gameplay and it feels like a punch to my stomach to witness such a bad gameplay and game design after all this time waiting. Just wait for MatPat to drop a new FNaF Lore video - I´m sure you won´t miss anything!
