Combat AI alone makes me not want to play this game anymore.

Just played a tournament, a 4v4.

I died, leaving 2 of my infantry men against 1 cavalry unit.

I proceeded to watch this cavalry unit trot away, turn around and either miss an attack or just PASS by the two units. The two infantry would try and chase said cavalry then block the whole time they were being charged at and NEVER attempt an attack.

This went on from FIFTEEN MINUTES. Did I mention there were two empty horses my men could have used to even the odds? Or bows? If the AI is this bad with just a 2v1 I do NOT want to see a 300+ man fight. It's baffling how stupid they are. Playing on realistic.

As someone who played both Divinity: Original sin and Divinity 2, I absolutely adore this game.

I played the beta and got it for free and honestly totally forgot about the game until I saw all the hype. Realized it was in my library already so I had to download it and the rest is history.

Haven't even beat the game and I have like five playthroughs I'm enjoying and each one is somehow different, it's wild.

Not much to say Larian. You did more than a good job.

10/10

Early Access Review
Not sure what the recent update did or what I'm doing wrong but- on release I was enjoying the game for the most part. I'd win some, lose some, I had 20 hours played at the time and all the unlocks at the time.

I've since got back into it since the recent updates but like, what happened to the difficulty spike? All my run settings are the same but I CANNOT get passed the first devil's deal fight, no matter what. I've has several runs with 2-3 traits active, some being level 2. With items equipped and multiple level 2 or level 3 units and we lose. Like wtf? I checked my history and had 3 wins and some losses before the break I took and I've lost like...20 times in a row on the same fight. It could just be me being unlucky but it seems unfair, idk.

Extremely fun, one of a kind.

This game packs all my favorite gameplay elements into one.
Turn-based strategy.
Exciting combat.
Fun multiplayer.
And of course the icing on top- the flashy but classic stick fight animation that plays out for you once a battle finishes.

This game really does make you feel like an anime character sometimes and I love the amount of thought that needs to go into each turn. Each character has a nice array of attacks and movements and each has a unique platstyle.

The small amount of customization is very much appreciated too.

I see this game getting some really, REALLY fun updates.

-Maps with geometry
-More characters (duh)
-2v2 or 3v3 gamemodes
-Singleplayer stories vs AI
-Tournaments

I see a bright future for this game :D

Great game. Been playing since 2015 on and off. Never had an issue with anything. Love the gods, skins and mechanics.

One of my favorite 4X strategy games out there. The art, lore of the endless universe, immersion, sound and gameplay (for the most part) make this game extremely unique in my opinion.

PROS:
Endless Legends really captures a Sci-fantasy universe better than a lot of games can depict. The races, technology and religions are so interesting to me yet most of what you experience, even quests and whatnot are pretty vague and don't offer too much information, which I love. Each race has their own main story quests which leads to the 'Wonder victor" and completing them all can be quite a challenge. With all the other victory types involved it allows one to try many playstyles.

10/10 Worldbuilding, storytelling
8/10 Immersion

The sound is perfect.
Besides all the notification dings and sound effects, those can get annoying.
"(N) CITY NEEDS CONSTRUCTION QUEUE"
The music is phenomenal, absolutely gorgeous. The composers who produced the soundtrack did a great job capturing the fantastical yet technological world. They really deserve more credit because wow, it's amazing.
Most other sound effects fit well together and are crafted efficiently. Scrolling into the map reveals bits of sound radiating from anomalies or armies which is a nice touch.

10/10 Soundtrack
8/10 Other sounds

A lot of people don't like the UI. ESPECIALLY when they first get the game. It's confusing as ♥♥♥♥- at first. It's really not though. There are a few menus within menus that can be tricky to get to but are rarely even used. People say the text is small and the UI in general is 'hard to see,' well you can scale it up! And once you play a few games just to get a feel things start to click together and make more sense. I think the menus are simplistic and straightforward which I appreciate. Most endless games have the same style of menus so it makes switching between them all easy and welcoming.

Menus/UI 9/10

Gameplay overall is fun IF you enjoy fantasy storytelling, light RPG elements and usually having some sort of end game goal.
The prolem new players have and players who aren't into this style of game but like strategy games is that they play it the wrong way. Of course that's obvious for new players who are learning but you have to really want to play as your race and learn how to win as them in the BEST possible way all while enjoying the story and light RPG elements. The reason why veteran strategy players will have a hard time, or, well, maybe not is because the game is too easy. Or too hard depending on the way you look at it. Here's the worst part about the game The AI is trash and combat is an ABSOLUTE waste of time.

Let me not get ahead of myself.

The strategy aspect of this game is quite awkward, I'd rather not get into the nitty-gritty but it you're on hard or above the AI, 90% of the time will be ahead of you no matter how far ahead you think you are. Trust me, there will be instances where you'll be ahead, and even win. But on higher difficulties the AI pumps out ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ armies and expands like crazy when you've made every right move and should be ahead. The strategy part is not getting ganked by these armies in early game and hoping every race doesn't get to wonder victory before you can wipe everyone out.
So basically you have to get soooo far ahead before turn 40 or else you're doomed on hard and higher.

The game is terribly easy on normal difficulties. I suppose that's the point.

AI that acts like a civilization is something to be sought after with this game which is why playing with friends or other players is a better experience.

Gameplay 7/10
Strategy 7/10

+With friends or players
Gameplay 9/10
Strategy 8/10

I don't care what anyone says all the DLC is wonderful additons to the game and there are so many and you don't need them all. This game is special to me and I hope you all give it a try!

Overall score 9/10

The best competitive FPS out right now. Great design, I play this game a lot. But it's rage inducing.

Very fun game, not a whole lot of strategy, depending on the starting tiles but satisfying regardless.
The A.I seems to make strange decisions and appears to get ahead MUCH faster than you're able to.
The only other thing that bugs me is the happiness system. It seems so...fake. It doesn't feel like happiness.

Happiness should go down because:
-Not enough resources. Food/krowns/wood
Already implemented in the game, works great.

-Over colonization. Not under colonization
The game punishes you for not expanding fast. I can understand with certain factions that this could be a buff or debuff. But why not have it where one faction likes to expand and another likes to hold one strong, fortified hold? Or is it the viking sterotype that we should just pillage and conquer? It would give the gameplay some variety but I also see how in the current game state you would just fall behind. Just a thought.

-Hitting the population limit
This one obviously makes sense. Though what I really don't like is the "expected happiness." What is that? So every new villiger you get it increases the expected happiness by a scaling percentage until it hits the next interval? And when you have enough villigers but not enough territories, or breweries or any other odd things that add happiness it'll begin to drop. But why? In my mind I try and think what could realistically be making them unhappy. I have proper housing, food, krowns, wood, military and some territories. could not expanding enough and not having breweries really cause anarchy like that? Like I said I'm looking at this realistically because I want them to feel like a proper viking society but these are just my opinions. Maybe other buildings could provide small happiness bonuses. I know you can research happiness techs as well but it's a hassle to get.

I think the happiness system could be completely revamped because right now it just feels like positive numbers and negative numbers.

Your happiness is 0!
You got a new territory +1 happiness!
You got a new villager -1 happiness!
Too many wounded -1 happiness!
You got a new territory +0 happiness!
You got a military unit! +1 happiness!
Your happiness is 0!

But what does any of that mean?

It just feels unnatural. Perhaps the happiness factor can start at 50 (content) and will increase or decrease based on your treatment of your population, instead of not colonizing fast enough or having too many people. Perhapes something like the endless series.

All in all this is a fun and interesting take on RTS games. I'm usually really slow at games like this because I enjoy turn based strategy but this was a good find! 9/10!
