It's good.

=Gameplay spoilers=

Receiver 2 is literally the original game - but a hell of a lot more fleshed out. You now play as a sentient target dummy who leaps off ledges when you accidentally press W twice, trying to slowly get a single round from a precarious ledge, the only reason you saw it is because the glare from your flashlight picked it up when you were sprinting down a tight hallway with a robot that has a taser strapped to it, zapping, taunting just metres behind you. Because of your slight error you are now crashing through a glass hallway (and oh boy is it satisfying) - smack bang in the centre of 2 turrets - luckily for you, they are spinning in such a way that you can dance around their view whilst fumbling that one round you picked up into your chamber - you aim, fire, click - aim, fire, click - aim, fire, click - aim, fire, click - Oh sod it, ill just hack the turret, it'll be quicker, let me just holster my weapon quic- BANG - The trigger catches on your holster because you decided to ignore basic gun safety, and not holster your weapon carefully. You're alive, but if Ed Sheeran was here, he would tell you that your legs are definitely not working like they used to before, and you can't keep up with the rotation of the turrets and you now have 2 Automatic turrets pumping you full of lead. Such is life.

I have only put a small amount of time into it so far - but felt like i needed to recommend this to anyone having doubts.

The gun controls are fluid, there's ballistics and complete realism to the guns, right down to gun safety (glock leg) - Shooting feels a lot more powerful, the sounds and feel of them make every round feel like its packin a punch. It does depend where you shoot your enemies too.

Whats improved though?
+Level design - it is a procedurally generated game, so its more "blocks" of rooms randomly put together, but they work very well.
+Movement - It feels a lot more fluid, you can now climb ladders (even warehouse ones)
+Attention to detail - You can now interact with light switches, use elevators, great glass physics, even flashing your torch in the wrong place will give you hell
+A much better health system - Instead of immediately dying, you can take a hit or two (if you are lucky), even falling glass can hurt you, and fall damage (whilst i personally think it is a bit ridiculous, a 5 foot drop wouldn't smash my shins) will affect movement speed in-case you decide to pull a mirrors edge escape.
+New Overgrowth update - Now available in your nearest arcade
+Better graphics- Assets look fantastic, a lot more variety and textures
+Better Atmosphere- it just feels like a good game. With a lot of potential.
+Music- Ohhh boy the music. Its awesome.

If you were a fan of the first - get it.
If you enjoy realism - get it.
If you want to run around guns blazing - still get it but you will be reminded who's the boss

Great job David, Jeffrey, John and Aubrey. I can't wait to see what else you do with it.

Good game, but broken.

The movement is broken, i click in a square and he goes the opposite direction, even without the confusion debuff.

I load into a game with my shield and sword in the same slot causing me to die when i dont remember to swap it out.

Struggling to enjoy it at the moment so refunded and waiting a while

STALKER is a diamond in the rough... it doesnt have nearly enough attention it should yet it is still a known game.
If you like fallout
if you like survival games
if you like atmospheric, story rich, intense fist person goodness.
GET.
THIS.
GAME.
i will guarantee you will enjoy it.

PROS:
+ Atmospheric and realistic
+ story rich
+ long gameplay, huge map
+ many interesting guns, mutants and characters
+ AI is amazing
+ lots of complete overhaul mods (Misery 2.1)
+ Intense gunplay
+ day-night cycle... night is actually scary
(the list could go on so im stopping it here.. but you get it)

CONS:
- couple years old, looks a tad ugly
- steam doesnt like this game, meaning it bugs out a lot and crashes (get the disc version)
- GSC (company) is dead... however has recently come back from grave, working on new title (new stalker???)
- can get extremely hard

Good luck STALKER

Alien isolation is an all round gem. amazing graphics, sound, atmosphere, controls. everything is almost spot on. however. it may just be me being stupid but the level design is rather off. its extremely easy to get lost, the map is no help at all as it doesnt show stairwells and you have to puzzle it all together which takes a lot of time. Also, its a horror game, i wanted to be scared. sadly this wasnt acheived, it has little to none scary parts and is very predictable.
All in all its a good game, would wait for a price drop or get it on G,2.A like i did for about £7 cheaper.

8/10
like skyrim with motion trackers.
