Quake Champions is the first arena FPS that I have played. I grew up playing halo and battlefield/cod. While I normally hate anything labeled as a hero shooter, QC has done an ok job with the concept. None of the "ultimates" are super OP but some a definitely stronger than others, but for a game modes like TDM an DM they are fun. The biggest plus side of this game being a hero shooter is all of the unique movement styles all in one game at a time! For me movement in games is a huge part of enjoying them and that's what QC does best. What this game also does really well is let skilled players actually be skilled, there are no random factors (maybe ultimates). At this games core it is just pure aim and movement skill, but what really matters is how big your brain is. The FTP model works well I think this game just needs a bit of a push in some way to break out from just the main quake scene. Maybe something is planned for when we are finally out of early access. Bottom line yes I would recommend this game.
