I was not expecting to love this game as much as I did. I was absolutely engrossed for the last couple weeks. The combination of ARPG and survival game was far, far better than I would have hoped.

The weapons all felt great, the spells were fun and diverse, the bosses all felt great on brutal difficulty and they never felt unfair even though some were genuinely, actually, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-I-might-not-be-good-enough-for-this difficult. The vampire themeing hit the perfect sweet spot of being grimdark but actually like...competent and fun?

I'm pretty much done with PvP games, but the mechanics in this game are pretty much my ideal setup, and I enjoyed the game so much it's tempting to dive back in on a PvP server and see how it goes.

If you enjoy solo offline play, it's probably fine. I don't.

The card acquisition and crafting menu is in one room, and you have to walk to another section to upgrade and enhance the cards, and then another separate-but-at-least-doesn't-require-walking-to-menu is required to actually equip said cards. This will be a system you interact with *often*.

This is not even the worst aspect of the homebase/mission hub known as the Abbey

Everything about the Abbey makes me question why I even play games anymore. I hate everything about it.

Then mission starts and it's an entirely different, better, actually fun game.

If you can endure the Abbey and the young adult melodrama, there's a decent game buried in there.

That first time you tame a trike is just oooooooo ♥♥♥♥♥♥ baby this game rules.

And then a few thousand hours later you're like am I actually insane? Why am I grinding metal again? Again? Again? Again?

(game's fine, it totally lost the thread of what made it fun after a while, but you can definitely enjoy it for quite a while)

A decent core gameplay loop, with a pretty solid loot and crafting system.

This is not enough to make up for the absolutely horrendous launch. Inventory wipes hit both of my end game characters.

The shooter looter genre is cursed. Steam won't give a refund if you play long enough to find out about the actual issues, so buy at your own risk.

I recommend this without caveats. An outstanding game with incredible replayability, an excellent sound track, great voice acting, and a fun bread-crumb story that keeps getting better the further you go.

Each run feels unique as you select a weapon, a charm that provides a single passive buff, and select from an assortment of other passive buffs. Various power ups either for your innate powers or the weapon itself then completely change your gameplay.

As you grow more comfortable with each weapon and each god's powers, you may start to find combinations you enjoy more than others. While you can't always get the build you want, there are a variety of methods for kind of aiming luck in your direction.

Prior to each run, you can also increase the difficulty through a number of options. Some of these completely change how bosses function, while others are simply buffs to all the enemies you face, while some are nerfs to yourself.

The replayability factor is insane. I wholeheartedly recommend it even if you're not a particularly big fan of rogue-likes, I genuinely believe this game has enough meat to interest you as it stands.

Arthur Morgan and his Band of Fellow Miscreants are great, but the rest of the game feels like a designer was determined to prove how terrible it would be to live in 1900.

Every mission is escort, do crime stuff in exactly the manner the game thinks you should do crime stuff, SOMETHING GOES WRONG, prolonged gunfight you have no chance of losing, escort back to camp.

Everything else is designed to take as much time as humanly possible.

The music is incredible, the voice actors are incredible, everything else is mediocre at best, with maybe one or two standout missions.

My time played is massively inflated because I accidentally left the game open for a weekend. Sorry, not very green of me.
