I remember at the release of Ghostwire: Tokyo that people derided it as "just another Ubisoft copy paste game", and it's easy to see it that way if you haven't actually played the game. It does have a gameplay loop similar to Far Cry or Assassin's Creed, but ultimately I think it does something much more special and unique than those other examples.

Ghostwire is an atmospheric and beautiful game, the environments are painstakingly modeled down to the smallest of details, and is utterly breathtaking with high settings and raytracing if your hardware can handle it. The combat feels fluid and intuitive, having an almost DOOM-like feel of dispatching enemies efficiently at the higher levels. Another huge bonus is how utterly open Shibuya is. You will very, very rarely encounter an invisible wall that stops you from traversing to the top of a building or across a street. The voice acting is also stellar, and I really enjoyed the chemistry between Akito and KK.

My only large gripe is that food is far too plentiful and it can make most combat encounters lose a level of tension, as most problems can be solved by just eating and you will almost never run out.

Pros:
- Beautiful environments
- Exploration is encouraged
- Fluid and engaging combat
- Cool premise
- Good chemistry between the two main characters
- Pettable dogs

Cons
- Gameplay loop can feel somewhat stale after long periods of playing
- Food can make combat encounters irrelevant
- The bow can feel kind of useless at higher levels unless you invest into it, which means less utility with the elements

I played through the game on Normal and passively searched for collectibles.

I would 100% recommend this for any person who enjoys RPGs and riveting stories.

I've been following this project for a couple years now and when it released, despite the VERY messy development cycle, it was all worth it. After a few playthroughs, this game has become my favorite game of all time. Never before have I been so seriously invested in the characters in a 20 hour game, and never before have I wanted to see more of a game than in the case of OMORI. Luckily, with the amount of side content, superbosses, alternate routes, and even optional areas, this game never ceases to entertain me. If you have 20 dollars, use it on this. It's worth every single penny.
