Just got into Artifact Classic as a new player, played through the tutorial and a few bot games. Even though this seems like an abandoned game at first, the game is polished, complete and free to play. In spite of my limited exposure its still pretty evident that this game is challenging, complex and varied enough to play 100's of hours on its own, solo or competitive. Just like chess, the complexity of this game feels like it can stay exciting even when the cards and rules will never get changed again.
I have previous experience playing a very less known DCG called Solforge which had a tiny but very passionate community. The uniqueness of that game's mechanics kept the regular players coming back again and again. After the game finally got abandoned by its developer a lot of folks regretted not being able to play at least the solo bot games via constructed self and bot decks, which were fun in their own right.
Artifact's current state feels very much the same with the big difference that Valve is rich enough to keep the servers alive for ever. That means solo, draft and competitive will always be available with ALL cards at no cost! I'm not sure what else to ask of what is now a totally F2P game. This game may not have tens of thousands of players and a booming community, but it should still be able to provide countless hours of fun for the limited players who can enjoy it and can survive the initial complexity.

Early Access Review
This game plays as a refined version of the original DAC mod, as it should be. Devs are adding in a ton of QOL changes, making it fun and easy to play.

SolForge - The DOTA of card games
****************************************
SolForge is that rare card game that can suck you in for countless hours with its unique gameplay. I have been playing this game for almost 2 years, and the new UI update has finally brought this game close to par with other competitors (atleast the pc version). The base concepts are simple, yet lead to so many different strategies. Deck synergies can make a heroic deck easily beat legendaries, and that is where this game shines. There is no one designated way to play this game, and a good levelup deck can drag a win out with 10 health remaining, and 1 turn away from loss. The satisfaction of dumping out a L3 Iron Maiden or Chrogias is just amazing.
The gameplay has gradually gotten more polished over the last few years, and concepts like aggressive, mobility, vengence, flank, ambush, poison etc. keep old cards from fading into obscurity by coming back into gameplay with new deck synergies.

Pros:
1] Unique card levelling gameplay, where the weakest L1 cards become L3 behemoths, and L1 powerhouses become wimps at L3. Its all about deck planning, and identifying the right levels for a deck to peak at.
2] Great card synergies
3] Specific cards to run counter-strategies against cancer decks
4] New game update finally makes games much faster
5] Dailies give enough to start playing random draft eventually, and help build up silver to start forging specific cards.
6] http://solforgegame.com/shop/ usually has a few prebuilt decks for new players, though for some inexplicable reason they aren't available in the in game client anymore.
7] CARD SHARING !!!

Of course, SolForge does not come without a few cons as well, but they aren't so big that they affect the core gameplay, which probably in itself is a big win.

Cons:
1] Building a good free collection takes time, especially getting 3 drops of that 1 card you're looking out for. But this is inherent in any free to play game.
2] Buying card pack boosters with gold (cash) can get expensive, especially when looking for something specific. It is a lot better to collect silver and forge cards, rather than hoping for a random drop from a booster pack.
3] Offline wins against AI no longer completes dailies, thereby removing the easiest way to collect cards and silver.
