It's Oblivion but pretty much better in every way. Might need a beefy computer to truly get the best experience out of it.

Biggest criticism I have is, while they have implemented some quality of life improvements, they could have gone further with it, like making inventory and magic more organized. The UE5 jank with the microstutters is still there, too, but it wasn't as bad as some other UE5 games I've played. Might have to do with the fact that engine is used mostly for rendering, and is a shell for the gamebryo engine which is still running under it. I have an RTX 4090 (24GB VRAM) with an Intel Ultra 9 CPU at 1920x1080 with almost all settings at max, and all I really notice are the occasional microstutters, but otherwise game performance is great.

For a retro style boomer shooter that costs 1 US Dollar, it's good for the price. It's functional. The level designs are passable, The guns are standard but most of them are useful in some form. The enemies range from OK to kinda funny (The T-Rex with mounted rockets felt like a nod to Turok). The music is ok. Sound design is... ok.

This game doesn't do anything special and is easily forgettable, but for a dollar can you expect much? It doesn't really do anything bad, but it doesn't do anything to set itself apart from other retro style shooters. Just very average. If this were 5 bucks this'd be a harder sell, but again the fact that it's a buck? It's not so bad at all. A good time waster.

Addendum: forewarning this game has some really cringeworthy jokes in its environment, and that's saying a lot considering I enjoy Postal 2.

A very fun, fairly standard Half Life 2 mod but with a cool section near the end. My only complaint was no Gnome achievement. I brought it all the way to the end and unfortunately nothing. But regardless, high quality and surprised by the original voice acting.

Changing this review to a positive. Game performs much better after the patch, and I commend Bloober for getting it out rather quickly. The stuttering is... mostly gone. It happens much rarer than before and almost nonexistent indoors. I readjusted some of my settings to get a better performance, and I still use an optimization mod to help even more but that's as a plus, since thinking about it even if I am above recommended, it doesn't necessarily mean I can run everything on Ultra. Ray Tracing is the biggest culprit, and the game still looks really good without settings at max and DLSS at balanced. Even if some other games play better, it's still in good form.

Finally finished it and am satisfied. Hard to call a remake a masterpiece especially when I was such a fan of the OG, but it's a very respectable remake, maybe even to a fault for some people (Some don't like the puzzles, others think the combat gets repetitive and tedious and there aren't enough monsters to fight, I personally disagree with both but I am playing on Normal/Normal for 1st playthrough).

The acting I'm glad I was wrong about. I initially was afraid of it sounding flat from the trailers, but so far it's been a great and different take from the OG that I think is very fitting. Acting as a whole is really good I think, and I love the additions they put in.

Outside of some nitpicks I have here and there, it's a great remake, on par with Resident Evil 4's Remake.

note: I found a fan optimization patch that helped with performance. You can download it here: https://www.nexusmods.com/silenthill2/mods/24?tab=description

I keep thinking this game is called "Parkview Drive."

Pretty fun though. I'll expand the review when I put a nice chunk of time into it.

As of this review I played Ultimate Doom, Doom II, and Legacy of Rust (LoR). For one it's nice to have the official Classic Doom experience all in one package, and Master Levels in particular all in one convenient iwad rather than loading each one separate, or having a mod organize it.

Game runs silky smooth, all the features added are great, especially the Andrew Hulshult soundtracks for Doom I and Doom II. The Kex Engine runs the games relatively stable, though I sometimes get a weird slowdown issue after I alt-tab for an extended period of time, but it goes away within a few seconds of being back in the game. Some of the campaigns have a few bugs with monster placement, but nothing common.

Since I know how to play map packs and mods through source ports like GZDoom, I personally don't get much value out of having them in this, but it is nice for console players and for other people for convenience's sake. Though I heard this feature is a bit of a wild west of map pack upload that may not even work because they require certain features exclusive to source ports. So tread lightly if using this feature as I don't know if there has been added moderation.

Legacy of Rust in particular is very well designed in my opinion. The new weapons are interesting, the new monsters are tough but fun to fight, and the level design I think is great for the most part. I'm familiar with Xaser Acheron's past work so I kinda knew what to expect. This is probably the hardest official campaign in the classic series to date on Ultra Violence difficulty, but not enough that I think your average player would be turned off by it. However, if you aren't familiar with retro FPS games, I'd recommend Hurt Me Plenty first. And make frequent but smart use of the quick save feature.

And if you enjoyed this but haven't played Nightdive's port of Doom 64 yet, get that too. :) But yes, I definitely recommend this, especially for new as well as console players.

I mean, I guess the graphics were ok. Some of the environments were cool? Story wasn't anything special. It's honestly kinda boring overall. What really made me not enjoy this game was the fact it was the ONLY game in existence so far to ever give me motion sickness. Even when I toned down the head bob.

Game is fun after playing it technically for the 1st time. The remaster Nightdive did changed the AI according to what I've been told, and to be honest I welcome it. I'm playing it on Hard difficulty and I think it's perfect for me, though I have plenty of experience with retro shooters and new shooters in this style. The graphical updates, the addition of the compass, and the weapon wheel I feel make it seem like it's a modern indie title with a retro feel which is what I'm used to.

Only enemy I genuinely hate fighting is the medical commander which feels like Doom II's Archvile on steroids, as it not only revives enemies, but it summons them as well, AND it resurrects its own kind. Enemies dodging attacks I've been told is a new addition, but it can be worked around either with hitscan weapons or aiming at their feet. I finished Call of the Machine as well. I'm baffled as to why it's listed directly under Quake II's main campaign, but I love the different take it has on entering levels. The levels outshined the other campaigns, with a fairly satisfying twist of a conclusion.

The addition of Quake II 64 is also welcomed, as I'm a fan of Aubrey Hodge's takes on the music. It's perhaps a bit too easy and short but I feel that's because the hardware it originally ran on made things a lot more difficult.

All in all, I highly recommend playing this if you're an old school shooter fan that likes the modern quality of life changes it adds. What's also cool, as they always do, is allow you to play the original release if you so choose.

Pretty decent open world game. I wouldn't call this a horror game but it has the theme of one, in that there's ghosts, spirits, magic ghost powers. All based on japanese folklore. Characters are likable and the villian is pretty cool. The story for the most part is pretty interesting and carries the gameplay well. Gameplay is fun, and punchy.

It's a TAD weak at times in terms of the "fluff" content, though I don't think to the same degree as Far Cry where it's mind numbing. Exploring haunted Tokyo is still pretty cool for the most part.

I think where this game shines the most is the art design and sound design. It's hard to describe but I just really like the aesthetic, and the sound just makes you feel powerful, against foes that feel even more powerful.

Game feels easy at first, but has a nice gradual increase in difficulty as you progress, even with your new unlocks and upgrades. Balance wise it's pretty good on Normal difficulty.

Still haven't beat it yet, but I'm still having fun.

As an aside, game runs flawless and looks incredible on an RTX 3070. Have most settings max'd and Ray Tracing on.

Fun Co-op. Don't play it solo.
