This game is just a asset dump from other cheap games or direct from the workshop for the engine. Nothing works right, the levels make no sense, there is no connection in the styles, and over all the game is boring.

Like Adventure Time? Like Dungeon Crawlers? Well this game may be for you.
Similar to Diablo and Gauntlet, this game is defiantly different. Unlike many dungeon crawlers, you switch between the 2 heroes not only to fight; but to access different places. Also, similar to games like Toejam and Earl, you can fall off the side of the maps to end up further back down in the game.
The violence if not to heavy, more feeling like the show or other cartoons as compared to dark gore. This is definitely good for a younger audience or an older audience that wants a not too hard dungeon crawler.

A dark, hopeless, dreary feel, aggravatingly slow movement, continual worry about balancing your health and missions, having no time to dilly-dally and explore, and insane levels of difficulty. Things that a true existential horror needs. Playing will make you feel tense and confused. You won't know if you are enjoying the game or not, leading you to play more. You will die continually.
I cannot recommend this game any harder if you want a different twist on horror, macabre, and gaming in general.

This game plays similar to bit.trip.runner or other auto-scrollers with a meat boy twist. The humor, art style, music, and overall feel is not to far detached from the original classic; but is not anything close to the original in play ability.
The lack of real time movement choice turns this game directly into a memorizing and timing button press game, that feels like it would be better with an old atari joystick, mobile phone, or an arcade cabinet.
I do enjoy the game, don't get me wrong, so I can recommend it to people who like auto-scrollers. I just wish it felt more like the original tough as nails game.

A strong throwback to gameboy style, with amazing pixel art and nail biting action. Right in line with megaman, castlevania, and metroid.

You like non-stop action, bad one-liners, 80's action, retro style shooters? Well here is Sam at it again.

The gameplay still feels like Quake, Unreal, Duke Nukem, or the other Serious Sam games. Run around, shoot everything that moves, find secrets to get better weapons or add-ons, look for the little easter eggs, enjoy the weird humor, and just get lost in bullets. A small complaint, the maps are massive; but in some cases are extremely large with nothing in them in large sections if you do not follow the main path. Like one level actually has a large forest you can turn around in when you spawn, and just run the wrong direction for a long while. Small complaint though, not a huge one.
The story continues to Sam series, with the aliens trying to conquer the earth, what can I say more than that?
A large part of what makes games like this enjoyable is the mindless and unrealistic combat. Just constantly running and gunning, looking for the ammo pack for your rocket propelled heat seeking chainsaw launcher.

I ran into a few bugs through playing the game, with AI getting stuck in corners, or if I jumped on a car the AI didn't know where I was so they just kinda stopped. There was also bugs of enemies hitting me out of the map, the allies shooting only at 1 enemy or not shooting at all when being swarmed, and autosaves saving as I die. The weirdest ones are assets missing in cutscenes.

I recommend the game still; but hope that the DLC and updates will fix some bugs.

A very dark and twisted game from years gone past. Using a mixture of digitized actors for characters, and pre-rendered backgrounds, you will explore a fairly dark town of Harvest.

The gameplay mostly consists of point and click style adventures, finding items you can use and not knowing when you will need them (if ever in some cases). Going between different areas of town, you meet fairly "colorful" characters that populate this town. In general these controls are fine; but when it comes to combat is when you begin to run into issues. Given this was a dos game, the controls are a bit clunky when you get out of the point and click and into combat; but you can use the keyboard to make it a bit smoother. In the end though, you will need to use the mouse to navigate menus, levels, and interact with the world outside of combat.
The cutscenes are FMV, with the old bitrate grain you would see in early 3d games or FMV games like the Sega CD games or CDI games.
Some of the puzzles in the game can be confusing unless you pay close attention to the dialog. Other times, you will have to die to know what not to do. It can get fairly nail biting with the timed puzzles, or simply walking then you die to acid on your clothes that you couldn't figure out how to get off.

Overall, the game has a few bugs, and is a bit clunky compared to more modern entries in this genre; but the twisted world and sheer un-censored disgust that it pushes at you with a small wink and nod make this game worth playing. It oozes grime at you all while keeping you engaged with the story. If you like dark horror worlds, body horror, goresplotation, b-movies, and fmv games this will be right up your ally.

Early Access Review
Alright how can I put how I feel about this game?

The graphics are a nice blend of oldschool and modern HD ports of the old style games. The environment textures are nice in catching the old pixelated look, same with the monster textures. The models are low poly models that wouldn't be to far from quake 2 or unreal.

As it stands, there is not a a lot of weapons in the game; but the weapons that are in the game are fairly nice and balanced. Combining the RPG leveling to improve how you use weapons is nice, as well as the ability to do only the direct story missions or do both story and side missions to improve your weapons and abilities is very nice.

Only having 2 shops in the current version is a bit difficult though, as if you use all your ammo and have already explored the map, you then have to go from one shop to the other to get ammo and healing items (as they do not respawn like the monsters do) is a major pain, given that you will have to use ammo or health to get between them at times.

The aiming seems a bit broken; but that might be just part of the RPG elements as one of the perks improves aim. This is a personal gripe, as when I am aiming directly at something the shot should go straight to where I aim.

The variety of ammo is nice, using the right ammo for the right enemies and watching them die instantly is fun. The sound design is also fairly nice with an awesome sound track and every sound being identifiable.

The map that is released, as the others are still being developed, is fairly barren with large spans of empty. It does feel like an old west environment like that so it captures to feeling; but for a game that seems to be high action and sneaking based this leaves large areas where you have to just run/walk with nothing happening.

Overall I give this game as it stands a 3/5 Potatoes. This is only based on what is here so far and I will edit my review with future map updates.

What can I say that hasn't been said about Postal?

The game has a dark sense of humor about it with an abundance of gore/violence that does seem to be toned down a bit; but still high level for the time of its original release. With the now released redux version also out, this stands more true for this release. I only bought the Steam version to keep it and play on a modern system, as I still have the original release.

If you enjoy games like Hatred, alien breed, or the original GTA series you may very much enjoy this release. Graphically, the 3d models have aged badly; but the 2d environments still look amazing. The soundwork is also well done, albeit a bit loud. The controls are simple; but a bit odd using F1 to go to the next level instead of having an exit point or the like; but you get used to it after the first level. There is also a fun bit of time with the extra game modes, and the additional levels added after the original campaign.

Negatives heavily lie in the age of the game; but not what you think. I think the violence should have been upped more with more detail gore, or more connection to the story of "The Demon". Maybe a killer soundtrack, though that could take away from the horror of the actions of the player character.

This game, unlike the follow-ups like Postal 2, is not just a straight joke. It has a heavy dark theme to it with a man who lost his mind and started a shooting spree. If this bothers you, do not purchase the game.

This is the style Doom clone we have all been asking for. Taking on a semi-demonic world with an arsenal of weapons that are both normal and crazy.

Positives are more subjective. It feels and controls like an old FPS game; but with added mouse aim of modern games (ala Doom2 style). Unlike most Doom-likes, this one does add a "hub" of sorts that allows you to level up your character, weapons, and spells (yes RPG elements). This can allow any player to adapt to a unique play style of the game. The graphics are even amazing with enemies and weapons being 2d sprites with, what appears to be, 2d false polygon walls (though this could still be polygons with retro textures on them). The spritework itself leaves me in awe of the art ability of the team. The action is fast passed with loads of secrets like old Duke-Nukem and Serious Sam would do (You'll see why I bring them up in the game). Some of the enemies look like they belong to the Blood games as well, with their dark demon looks to more robotic looks from the likes of System Shock or Deus Ex.

There is negatives to the game though. There appears to be some glitching issues with some of the weapons, maps, and AI. In some cases, when you are strafing/serpentining to avoid fire, your weapon will begin firing to the top left of the screen. Some of the AI will simply not attack you or move at times, while others when they die, their sprite isn't destroyed like it should (these 2 cases only happened maybe 2 times in my play through though). Some of the maps also had concerns with opening the secret doors, like it was missing the input of the interact. There is also a bug where the sound level boosts itself to max on launch, as well as when a cutscene plays. This forces you to go into the settings and reset the volume again every time.
