All 3 stages of The Witcher 3 player:

1. Overall confused, dies a lot, lost in the story, can't keep track, uses weak build, almost never uses potions nor crafts any gear, rarely loots, and always poor. He never heard of gwynt or how to play it. The same goes for skill tree, mutagens, and runes. Signs are alien to him so he almost never uses them or uses a single one of them. Dies a lot, and plays on the easiest difficulty.

Probs 25 hours of playtime.

2. Familiar with the game, can keep track of the main story, does a few side-quests, occasionally uses potions and crafts them, loots most of the time, and has some coins but nothing fancy. Heard of gwynt, but can't play it nor has the patience to learn it. Same for the skill tree, he randomly gets a few abilities, but never uses them. Knows about all kinds of signs, and uses them but never upgrades them or combines them. He rarely dies and plays on medium difficulty.

Probs around 100 hours of playtime.

3. Not his first time, does all possible quests in strategic order, keeps track of everything, loots every single inch of the corner in the game, uses blueprints concisely and crafts gear/potions accordingly to match up to the current task. Very regular at merchants and keeps everything maintained. Mastered gwynt, furthermore collects every card in the entire Witcher 3 world, not a side-quest got unexplored. Knows every recipe by muscle memory, the same goes for the bestiary, so he is always ready. Beats every boss fight in the most elegant manner, most of the HUD is turned off for him, he plays the game on the hardest difficulty, and dying is very rare even at this difficulty level. He is rich with coins, has all the witcher gear, and he never fast travels.

Probs 500+ hours of playtime.
