It is Factorio. It is the one automation game that the kinds of Satisfactory and Blueprint Tycoon have to compare themselves to.

It is well polished, looks good, has great moddability and a wonderfully balanced vanilla gameplay.

The Space-Age DLC really adds to that experience by making some very interesting adjustments to the research tree and adding tons of new and interesting game features and content. Get it, play it and then look for therapy to get a life again.

Great story, good game. Buy on a sale and you'll be quite happy with it.

DLC plays like a simple escape room. Interesting story, but no challenge at all. Still might be worth it if you yearn for some Avasarala nostalgia. I certainly did.

Early Access Review
So far this game does not know how to provide an engaging mid to late game. Instead it feels like it is getting more and more tedious manual work. I guess some sort of blueprinting might patch that issue up combined with some more interesting problems to solve.

So right now mid-game just is a very manual process of spamming more buildings and trying to figure out the optimal layout of factories and depots with rather slow feedback. So you build and wait and change and wait. How about having a more elaborate transportation system, where different routes on the same tracks actually interact, so you'll have to figure out some load balancing or something. Right now I'll just max out every train route and then add a second one right next to it once one isn't enough anymore.

This could be a great game, but right now it doesn't even feel like the devs have figured out where they want the game to go. QoL improvements are nice and I appreciate them. Just please afterwards take the time to give us an actually engaging mid- and late game. Maybe add some game mechanics that make the different production chains interact. Be it by trains actually blocking other trains or by having some products that cannot be transported by train or need something different then depots for short range transport.

Please go nuts there and try things till something sticks! I'd love to revisit this game in a couple of months and just get sucked into it for hours without end. It doesn't have to be a Factorio, but maybe try to be a bit more Blueprint Tycoon?

This game is basically Frostpunk in space. Despite its bugs a very very enjoyable experience with an immersive and engaging story. The gameplay is quite challenging in the beginning, but absolutely doable.

Sadly the game has quite a few bugs and while there has been a number of fixes since release I actually encountered more bugs on my recent play through, than on my first half a year ago. I still enjoy playing it very much.

Probably the best story-driven game I have played so far.

It may not be the most complex of all games, but it provides you with multitude of approaches to situations whenever the story and pacing allow for it. It's gentle in the beginning but will challenge you after showing you around. It is forgiving and (almost) never punishing.

You're actively given a chance to explore each of the beautifully designed areas and are gently nudged to notice and remember relevant information. Giving you time to breathe in the beauty before sending you back through it for your mission.

This game is just incredibly well designed and goes out of its way to be supportive and avoid bad surprises without breaking character or actually becoming easy. (Well except if you selected an easy difficulty of course.) It has a very clear game language always making sure that the player knows what the consequences of their action will be.

And well the ending... Srsly just take the time and play it. It is worth every penny.

Lovely game!

Very very immersive, consistent and interesting setting, great music and a story that albeit some controversy really just fits perfectly into this game.

I just love how this game makes you feel getting into a routine while always keeping up the challenge. I hope it will get a sequel or DLC that adds more ships and extends the story.

I just finished the first main quest. Now for the second main mission I am supposed to drive to some place for the first time, but anytime I get near the destination I get a star and police starts attacking me and if I don't drive away fast they kill me. There does not seem to be any way to continue the main quest beyond this point. Threads on Reddit suggest that this is a bug that was introduced with update 1.3 which was released almost half a year ago.

Since then there has been only one further patch ("1.31") four months ago which is the version I was playing, so chances are this bug will not get fixed anymore. :(

So I guess this means don't buy this game, it might have gotten abandoned in a broken state. :/

Nice game, makes fun, even though it sometimes limits your choices without any obvious reason (e.g. why can I change the take-off runway of that plane to 16L, but not to 34L even though 16L is closed an 34L is open?)

Sadly it sometimes crashes to desktop without warning or further information during play losing all progress, thus a thumbs down. This happened 3 times within 18 hours of playtime so far - not acceptable for software nowadays.

Mixed Emotions. First of all: I am very much into the mood of this game, the artsyle is quite nice and it really gives me mixed feelings from hope, to freedom to nostalgia.
In my opinion, this makes a game really good. I played with my GF this weekend.

Story: There aint much of a story, besides all people are gone, some kind of mysterious end of the world and you want to find shelter/other people. Circumstances of the apocalypse are unclear, still much up to fantasy. Whenever you meet other characters they are quite cute, unique and interestingly designed. 5/10

Gameplay: Some minor problems here and there but all in all a good handling. We played with Controller. The game is very unforgiving tho. But once you figure it out (Tea is OP) it's very nice. Its fairly easy to cheese most animals tho. We played a whole day, some night and half of the next day. It really captured us and we wanted to really beat the game. If you want a challenging, unforgiving but fair game to be sunken in - that's gonna do it. 7.5/10

Graphics: Here and there shading is weird and light effects are kind of trashy. But overall the design and the mood really get me. 7/10

Music: The music is gorgeous, moody and gives a lonely roadtrip vibe. Love. 8/10

Enjoyment: I thinks it's nothing you'd play rather often. Still nice to spend time, play together, beat the game, speculate or waste a rainy day with - liked it a lot. 9/10

TOTAL: 7.5/10

This game is a huge step gack from Civ V.

Due to some questinable coloring choices, the game map became unnecessarily hard to read and overall management and information screens one got used to were either removed or greatly reduced in clarity and usefulness.

For example the empire overview screen that lists all cities has been hidden in the "reports" submenu and was stripped of almost all functionality that made it useful: It is no longer possible to sort the list of your cities and you can no longer access a city's build queue from there - in fact you can't even navigate to the city or open its detail screen from there. Instead you'll have to scroll the list looking for the criteria you're currently interested in, memorize the city name and then scroll the game map until you find the city with that name.

And this is just one example of how gameplay-central tools are just broken in this title.

TL;DR: If you loved Civ V and/or Civ III, skip this title and hope that Civ VII will be a worthy successor again.
