A very entertaining disappointment.

A remake that preserves all the good parts of the original and removes all the clunky controls from a game that came out a month before I was born. It's surprising how modern the level design feels, surpassing stuff made today by miles in a sort of metroid-vania exploration of a single spaceship that inspired the likes of Prey and Dishonored. Satisfying to puzzle out in a way few modern games achieve, even some of those that bill themselves as immersive sims.

I don't know if I'll replay it any time soon, but there's nothing quite like sinking 100+ hours into a game like this on release when everyone's talking about it and figuring out all the stuffs.

Or being the first of your friends to beat Malenia because greatshields are life.

I think this is the only game I've put more hours into than TF2. While I like OSRS more now, I still had some good times on RS3 and can't begrudge it. The music and quests are definitely the high points.

There's just so much to do. You can build unique houses. You can make unique people. You can control their lives in a benign way, or in an evil overlord kind of way. Or you can do what I do and try to min-max the game with an immortal character who can do everything.

Negatives: Buggy, sometimes laggy, and expansions costs way too much.

Somehow they subscribed me to their email list without my permission. When I tried to unsubscribe they just linked me to the steam page. Figured the only way to hit back was to leave a negative review. Sadly I had to play this awful game for 5 minutes first.

While the Witcher 2 still holds a special place in my heart, (and is still probably my favourite in the trilogy) The Witcher 3 is undeniably a crowning jewel to the Witcher series. While it started a bit wobbly, with a clunky interface and an un-intuitive movement system, it's more than made up for its missteps with a wonderful story, hours of gameplay, love from the developer, worthwhile DLCs, and much, much more.

Add to that, its story follows the books more closely than its predecesors, breathing life into fan-favourite characters like Yennefer, Ciri, and Emhyr. I still remember the sense of excitement I had walking into Novigrad for the first time: the joy of seeing the city in the "flesh" for the first time, coupled with the rich history I'd read about. It felt real.

Plus, I built a new computer pretty much with the sole purpose of playing this game. It was worth it.

Buying this game and saying it's only fun if you have friends that play is like buying monopoly and saying the same thing.

What can I say about the Witcher 2? Only that I've played through the game nearly 4 times and I still enjoy it. Sure I may feel like quitting when I roll into a group of 5 people during insane mode and I'm forced to restart the entire game, but I know I'll come back to it.

The story is compelling, the characters are memorable, and they throw in enough small references to the books to keep you looking for more.

The most fun I've had in a single player campaign since Portal 2. It has a wealth of quests; it took me almost 50 solid hours to beat the game. The characters are interesting, if a bit archetypal, but the story is fun to follow. It's not particularly deep or mature as the trailers may claim, sure there's plenty of violence and nudity, but it keeps you hooked. If you can get past the first two chapters, you're in for a treat.
