It's one of the few games I've seen that has a 100% completion rate for all players.
give it a try!

It's fine. As stated by others, it tries to emulate the room and falls short in that regard. There's really only one puzzle part you need at any given point, and if the one part you find first doesn't work it's fairly easy to find the next thing to twist, poke or open. The technobabble lore isn't quite as harrowing or as consistent as the room's is, and it leaned into weird tech, evil science more than weird occultism and forbidden magic which i personally find more interesting.

That said, it's still fun. The room did have a habit of giving you too many items to ♥♥♥♥ around with, and this game is certainly less tedious in that regard. An ideal little game to play to unwind and relax with. This game is gentler, more forgiving and certainly easier.

Judged by its own merits, it's a perfect reasonable 7.5. It loses some points because of timing puzzles, lack of real challenge and it's short length. But it looks nice and it's polished, and it's not that expensive either for 3 hours of puzzling.

It's not the same game as DD1, even though they look alike. The game has become more reliable, but it lost some of DD1's weird but lovable quirks. Afflictions are simplified enormously, A hero's death is both less important and more annoying as you need to clear the bosses with that hero again. Trinkets can make a run easy or do absolutely nothing for your team comp, with the middle ground stat-trinkets being fine but not great. Heroes paths are cool but lock you in, there's less flexibility but more options, some are clearly better than others. The new relationship system is fun, but positive relationships don't always get you something, whereas bad relationships can ♥♥♥♥ up your build. playing stunners requires a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of investment without a lot of payoff. trading 2 turns/abilities for a kinda small chance to remove one enemy turn isnt often worth it.

I miss my boy flagellant that could keep living through everything, the green zombie isn't as compelling and somehow dies more often in my runs. PD is almost a requirement every run, as she is the best dedicated healer that can still reliably damage from pos 3-4 Heroes that can give others extra turns seem strong but I'd rather play heroes that do their own thing well. Stress is somehow harder to get rid off as most enemies inflict some form of stress, and on a bad cit you can easily get 3-4 (out 10) stress.

The new regions all have a good distinctive feel, but they could use some more enemy types unique to the areas. The area bosses are brutal, and require good planning in order to even attempt, and a lot of them require back rank focus. The backstories are neat, although there are 1 or 2 weird choices there.

That all said, it is fun. A run is shorter, only taking 1-2 hours, and the new animations combine the cool art style with some added brutality and character. Stacking buff tokens is a fun and viable strat and can deal some pretty obscene damage, with some buffs lasting more than 1 round. The world is weird and messed up and the monster designs and little lore tidbits are very good. It's slightly easier than DD1, with only one of the chapter bosses giving me significant trouble (it's not the fifth and final one), making it a slightly less stressful and more casual gaming experience. This removes the need to commit 30+ hours to a single run (and the sadness of bailing part way through). You can more easily stop playing and pick up a run later, without remembering what you were building towards. I'm curious to see what the devs come up with next, as there are some more balance changes incoming that do really change the game (love the new highwayman).

It takes some time getting used to dd2, but once you do it is quite a rewarding and fun experience. 8/10

This game was just being obtuse, making you wander around and setting you back to the start, also the "epic trolling" was really droll

It's good fun, messing around with the castle, modding it and then battling your own creations. THe tutorial is a bit lengthy, but very much worth it. The enemy castle's are a bit too easy at start, but they get progressively more difficult. It's a good game, but certainly not finished
