Deadlight is a lovely little visual gem in a sea of generic zombie titles.

A simple side scrolling puzzle-platformer you play as Randall in search of his family through the zombie apocalypse. Find journal pages, ID cards, etc to fill out the story as you progress. Nothing is hidden terribly hard and any puzzle work is basic and can be solved with simple pathfinding.

Anyone familiar with the usual zombie tropes will know what to expect when getting into this, but the simplicity of the gameplay and the artistic excellence that is put into the backgrounds is phenominal.

If you can pick it up for $10 or less it's more than worth a playthrough.

Well folks, we've been waiting for an excellent Alien game and here it is! Fans of things like Amnesia, Outlast, Penumbra, etc will find a common game mechanic in hiding as your main form of defense. You -do- get some weapons and tools but I will get into those a little later.

You play Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen Ripley from the original film. You are looking for the blackbox from the Nostromo which you heard was recently recovered in search of your mother. This opens up some nice Nostromo logs which help reference the original film more.

You spend most of the game either hiding from the alien or combating androids.

Weapons such as a stun baton, maintenance jack, revolver, shotgun and boltgun are all effective against androids. The alien is best combated via stealth and planned movement. A handful of distractions and saves exist versus the alien...noisemakers, flares, smoke bombs, etc...which I found I never used. Molotovs and the flamethrower cause the alien to retreat into the nearest vent giving you roughly 3 - 5 seconds of freedom to move before the alien returns.

Gameplay-wise there is nothing special here. It's the world that Alien takes place in that makes the game amazing. From the growls of the alien on the prowl to the glow of android eyes models are fantastic to look at. Key animations and movements from the original film make an appearance that Alien fans will enjoy. The motion tracker is solid and easy to read. The station, derelict, space and vent ducts are all highly authentic to the universe and feel like you are stepping into it yourself.

I was highly reserved coming into this so I was pleasently surprised with how entertained I was. Aside from ID tag / log hunting this game really is a one shot wonder like most story games. I definitely recommend picking it up for $40 or less. The value is there and this might end up being my Game of the Year.

Buggy, poor controls, poor combat, poor AI, levels are designed to create navigation issues, not in any way relevant or related to Resident Evil 1, immersion breaking PewDiePie "easter egg" for some reason at the beginning, no scares / horror.

Even though it's free, I do not recommend to any audience.

There really isn't a whole lot to say about Zeno Clash 2 that you couldn't say about the first. It's simply a continuation of the story involving the Golem and FatherMother. Combat is the same, weapons are the same.

A remake of the classic Shadow Warrior featuring still the character Lo Wang. It is easy to see that much effort went into blending modern and classic FPS styles. Medkits still litter the levels yet you have the ability to heal yourself at will with a Chi spell unlocked early in the game.

Many people will remember the humour of the first game and it is still here, although at a toned down level. Much of the hilarious one liners and jokes are gone or purposefully changed to lower potentional insult certain people might feel and make vocal.

Secret areas do exist and are done up in the classic Shadow Warrior pixel graphics. Areas from old levels and pixel-based girls await your discovery!

Much of the combat focuses on the use of your sword, which I found to be a huge plus. There is an assortment of weapons as one would expect in classic FPS titles with three different upgrades each. Different Chi-based abilities help you fight your foes. Two skills knock down or suspend foes in the air, various katana abilities help you fight at range or slay foes in a circle around you.

All in all I was highly impressed and surprised at how good the overall game was in both quality and length. If you can pick it up on sale for $19.99 or less it's definitely worth it!

Short and sweet, Sniper Elite V2 is a game focused on sniping with minor stealth elements. Hunt down Nazis and Russians who were a part of the V2 Rocket program. It is interesting in that you can combat tanks by sniping the caps of their fuel tanks. Realism no, but entertaining yes!

Aside from a hangup trying to find enemies in certain maps the game moves along smoothly with few glitches or hangups.

Metro: Last Light is the "inspired by" sequel to Dimitri Glukhovsky's Metro 2033. While it takes place in the same universe it's immediately apparent that the game is radically different from the first. Characters have been changed and dumbed down to single character traits. The only female character is initially portrayed as a strong female lead only to be reduced to a damsel in distress for you to bone later by end-game.

You will be pleased to know you still play Artyom! Less pleased to find it's a completely different kind of Artyom than you are familiar with. After the events of the first game, finding D6 and nuking the Dark Ones, Artyom has learned his greatest skill of all...the BAT PUNCH! That's right, an incredibly simplified stealth system now exists where so long as you are standing in a shadow the enemy will never detect you and with a press of a button will punch ANY enemy into unconciousness!

Another change is how bullets are used. Dirty rounds are plentiful and gold rounds, used for currency, now cause extra damage and set enemies on fire!

All in all the game is much more linear with a focus on the shooty shooty and less on story and atmosphere. While pretty to look at, it's best picked up cheap.

Metro 2033 is a game based off the novel of the same name written by Dimtry Glukhovsky. Having read the novel as well I can say without a doubt the game is much better presented, thankfully, and sensible.

The story thus far is that the world has been engulfed in nuclear war and the only survivors that are known are those who were in the underground metro system in Russia. Unfortuantely mutants run rampant and attack the poorly defended metro systems in overwhelming numbers. There is also a new threat rising in the form of the "Dark Ones" a group of psychic beings working their way into the tunnels.

The world of Metro 2033 feels incredibly alive. The audio and visuals were given some tender care to create a grand post-apocalyptic environment. The characters feel real right along with the plight of the people of the Metro. Currency comes in the form of pre-war ammunition which is used to buy "dirty" bullets made in the Metro, filters for your gas mask, medkits, explosives and trade for weapons / armour. One must be careful to be sure you are using "dirty" ammunition in your weapons lest you fire off all your money.

The game can be played in both run n' gun and stealth modes. Throwing knives, pnumatic guns and dart launchers help for stealth. Although once you, a body or noise is detected there is no going back for that section.

All in all, Metro 2033 is set in a beautiful lively world and well worth a play through.

For a free-to-play title this is surprisingly fun. Disassemble and reassemble up to 96 weapons! This also includes cars and apparently creatures (have yet to explore those options)

Essentially this is a simulator but acts easily as a puzzle game. For anyone who is into shooters, war history or simply weaponry this is highly informative and detailed. Use Experience gained from successful completion of tasks to unlock more weapons, vehicles, shooting ranges and more!

Definitely recommended and going to sink hours into it!

A fantastic title that reminds me highly of Fantasy Flight Games' X-Wing Miniatures series, Pacific Skies is a turn based strategy game focused on WW2 air combat in the Pacific. Each side takes turns performing various maneuvers with a handful of aircraft from both the American and Japanese Army/Navy. Most missions are simple, ranging from one on one ace combat, reconnaisance, bombing and zepplin attacks.

Pilots add another layer of strategy as they level up with successful kills. Each level allows the player to choose from three different sets of maneuvers for that specific pilot. Should the player keep damage levels above 50% in a scenario they will gain a part unlock to attach to a plane. This comes in the form of accuracy, damage, speed and maneuverability upgrades.

All in all, a wonderful game with high replayability. The only difference I have noticed between this and the first Ace Patrol is purely graphical, slightly faster plane speeds and higher damage ratios. Recommended at any price!
