While im enjoying the game quite a bit, it is abundantly clear that this is an early access release. The game is very demanding in terms of performance but its not always warranted. Every 30 or so minutes the game will get a vram memory leak and framerate will tank to the single digits. This happens even on a 4090 with 24gb of vram. It does not matter what system you have, it will happen to you, some rigs sooner than later. You can power through some of the other optimization problems with good hardware but it still is not performing as well as it should, especially in the cpu department. This wouldn't be a big deal considering that the cpu would be handling complex a life ai simulation of the zone in the background right? well, wrong. A Life is extremely buggy and will spawn packs of dogs 5 meters behind you. Other times you can spend 30 minutes with no ai in sight. This is a huge step back from the original games. Aside from that there are even some parts of the main quest that you can get soft locked in from what i've heard, but this has not happened to me yet.

The good news is, every problem with the game right now is something that can be fixed. There are no problems with the story, or any case of tarnishing the stalker name. they didn't dumb the experience down or make it easy for casuals. Give it a year and this will probably be one of the best games of this gaming generation and a true successor to the original trilogy, but as of right now i unfortunately cannot recommend this, even if i love it despite its faults

Great campaign that celebrates the history of the black ops franchise and the best level design in the entire history of the series. If you liked Cold War's campaign you will love this. The great and slick movement makes multiplayer a blast, and the weapons/gunsmith are great as you would expect. Maps are hit or miss though, as of launch. I never want to play Lowtown ever again in my entire life.

As someone who has never played the original or has had any exposure to the franchise whatsoever, what bloober did here was astonishing. This is the RE2 remake of silent hill and i hope bloober can continue to remake more Silent Hills after this

Possibly the most ambitious cod ever made, and the peak of the classic cod era

in hindsight its alot better than it was at the time of release, but still not quite as memorable as it could have been.

One of the best cod campaigns ever and a really solid multiplayer outing makes it one of the most underrated games in the series. It simply kicks ass

Quite buggy, but superb gameplay and level locations make it a great successor to swat 4 despite its flaws

(This review is coming from someone who has only played through the Myst 1 remakes and not touched any other games in the series)

I have not finished the game yet but a few hours in at the time of writing this review, having worked through a few of the islands z but I've seen enough to know that this is one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen. The art style and fidelity genuinely makes you feel as if you're walking around in 90's cgi in real time, something that I wish other games tried to do (the latest remake of Myst 1 did NOT do this which I found somewhat disappointing however realmyst masterpiece edition actually does and is my preferred version of the original). Each island manages to be pretty unique and there are some really really cool locations to visit which really can fuel the motivation to work out the puzzles.

As I've said I'm only a few hours in atm but I find the puzzles in this game to be some of the most fair puzzles ive played in a game, because alot of the puzzles aren't really typicql puzzles but more about learning the logic of a dreamy yet intuitively familiar world. The puzzles don't feel like puzzles designed to be puzzles for the sake of gameplay but rather something someone in the world would actually create to serve a practical function. Myst 1 hinted at this sort of puzzle design with ages like channel wood for example but riven greatly improved its execution and scope of that philosophy. It probably isn't for everyone but if you actually are patient with it you will start to understand it's far less arbitrary than other typical point and click adventure games (like Sierra's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moon logic puzzles). Just go at it from the perspective of learning a new place rather than typical adventure game puzzles.

All in all this pretty much turned into an instant classic and I don't have any complaints whatsoever, especially for the extremely generous price it's being offered for

Ignore the reviews saying it's "not accessible". it simply downloads the pdf to the directory that you installed the game in. To get there quickly you can just right click on the game in steam, hover over manage, then click "browse local files" and you'll see it listed as "Riven_Companion.pdf".

The price is a bit steep for what it is but as this is a small indie studio that I love I didn't have a problem with giving them a bit more financial support especially seeing as how the actual game is half the price of a AAA studio release these days.

I haven't yet used the book but I did skim through the journal section a bit, just enough to cover what i played during the steamfest demo, and it seemed like a neat way to follow along a section that you might be a stuck on. theres also a more straight forward walkthrough after the journal section that i probably won't be using but that might be more preferable to some.
