Early Access Review
I bought this game a while back and ended up not being a fan of the base game, so I put it aside for a while.
I came back to revisit games that had grown dusty and not been played.

This review is in regards to the overhauled version of the game (Evrima).

I'll start with the good.
- Great graphics.
- Game mechanics feel well done (Food/water/nutrition/venom/sickness/cannibalism/etc)
- Some of the character animations are a little off, but I don't expect a small dev team to pull off AAA animations. However they aren't bad, and players are able to get a good-enough understanding that their character is perhaps latched onto another dinosaur via a pounce.
- Variety - Dinosaur variety is pretty wide, there's a good amount to play if you get bored with one type of dinosaur and want to swap it up. They definitely could use more Omnivores though.
- Beipi <3

Now, we'll go over some flaws:
- The game doesn't do much in the way of teaching you what you're doing. You'll be spending a TON of time watching videos on youtube, ex: (learning how to use Troodon venom, learning how to use Dilo venom, learning different combat styles and how to use different attacks - ex: If you don't hold RMB while pouncing as a Herra, you won't do damage), there's no tooltips or anything. You're just kinda thrust into the sandbox environment, they pin a $20 bill to your collar and wish you the best.
- Unofficial Servers: Expect lots of rules, probably expect to join some server discords to be able to see the rules so you don't get kicked/banned for violating them (Google this common rule: Body Down)
- Official Servers: If you are on them, anything goes. Don't expect any form of moderation, and don't expect any anti-cheat. I've got countless videos of people using cheats, teleporting to other players, speed cheats (running/swimming insanely fast), insanely high stamina, etc. However, be aware if you try to join the developer's discord to try to report a bug or report cheaters with a newer discord account (as you'll instantly get automatically banned for having "too new" of an account), and there is zero way to appeal.

Overall - Private servers are where it would be at unless you don't mind getting teleported to and attacked, outran by dinosaurs with broken legs, having enemies with nearly infinite stamina (looking at you, Chinese stegosauruses with infinite stamina and running as fast as a Troodon, and Deinos swimming on land at the speed of mach 2).
- Love the game, would only recommend if you're either down to clown with the cheaters in Official Servers, or don't mind crazy extensive rulesets of private servers. I see the devs have been putting in work, and there's a lot of great stuff being added in, and I've seen screenshots of the discord that show some neat features coming, but I need to admit, the support has not been very end-user-friendly.

Otherwise, I'd recommend you steer clear in the meantime until they've put in work to alleviate the massive amount of cheating in official servers.

(Reminder: This review is focused SOLEY on the Evrima Branch, and not the Legacy version of the game)
- The Legacy Version of the game is the version that is advertised in the Steam Store.
- The Legacy Version has no Official Servers and has pretty much been abandoned by the developers and is no longer in active development.
- The Legacy version specifically only has privately run servers. I have only spent about 8 or so hours in this version. Those hours were fun, but I would say it was tainted by the amount of rules I had to follow in the private server I was in that day.

This was a lot more accurate than I thought it would be. I appreciate the time and effort the developers have put into it by asking you simple questions with simple answers. Very VERY well done, and a great interaction between the player and the game. Will forever keep an open eye out for a nun, and in the future, there might be a chance I can answer things differently. LOL

Beautiful work to the developers, thank you! <3
