Mordhau is a game defined by it's addictive, skill-based swordplay that allows for an amazing depth in how you handle combat across a large variety of weapon types. I've loved it since it came out, but it's definitely hard to recommend for new players. Veterans have learned how to abuse certain mechanics to the point that the learning curve to getting "good" in public lobbies has gotten too steep, which is also due to the dwindling player count.

That being said, the community is the life and soul of this game, and will keep you coming back with the amount of memes and funny moments you're bound to encounter. I pray that the player count improves because the diversity of skill levels and metas is what made the game refreshing to come back to.

Buy it, play public lobbies for an hour, avoid ranked, and you'll be able to assess if you should refund. As a long time fan, I pray that this becomes free to play, the community needs it, and I think a non-aggressive microtransaction model would breathe some much needed life into this overlooked gem.
