I only recommend this game to people that want to play a game with a variety of options to be in the Star Trek multiverse. Play with friends or solo, and just enjoy spaceship go brrr laser fun time.

If you removed the Star Trek IP from the game, it's terrible. A blatant cash-cow for anyone who wants to be "optimal", with lootboxes and gambling. Still, if like me you just enjoy hearing the actors from the shows/films cameos, role-playing during the hundreds of episode missions, and building themed builds rather than number chasing, it's the only option and has me entertained.

EDIT: 2 years later and many DLC.

Game is good, plays like I wanted it to back when it first came out, and the DLC and FreeLC has fleshed out the rosters enough they no longer feel empty placeholders.

Previous review, 2022:
Whilst this game is quite enjoyable, after playing for 60 hours it becomes apparent that it feels half filled.

Factions feel glass half full regarding unit rosters - especially the demon factions where it feels very unfleshed out regarding unit rosters.

Adding in the optimisation issues, issues with window mode alignment (having had to go in manually and change x/y pos), and massive frame rate drops for no reason, I would suggest people looking to buy this game give them 6 months. Play TWW2 for your itch scratch until this game is sorted out, has Mortal Empires to give it enough content, and for the issues to hopefully be patched.

Also why the hell is blood still not in the core game? We have literally blood for the blood god and... no blood.
