If you like first-person shooters with fast-paced gameplay, stunning visuals, on-the-nose stories and fan service, then this for you. DOOM Eternal will have you thinking on your toes looking for enemy weak points and finding the right weapons and mods for the job, all while you're zipping around arenas picking them off one-by-one until they are weak enough so you can move in quickly and tear them to pieces. Playing as the DOOM Slayer has never felt more satisfying and powerful.

It's "push forward" combat style emphasises that constant movement is the key to survival. Dodging enemy attacks and killing them quickly will reward the player with health pickups to stay in the fight and efficient use of your chainsaw will replenish your ammo supply if you find yourself running low. Every new demon you encounter will be added to a codex in your menu with some useful information about their weaknesses, so you are always finding new and faster ways to break down the heavier demons and take them out quickly.

DOOM Eternal's story continues on from the 2016 reboot by adding new lore about the stories and histories of Hell, the heavenly realms and the Sentinels. Though, if you're leaning a bit more about the action and less about the story, you can skip the cutscenes and read up on it in the codex menus later.

Finding all the secrets in DOOM Eternal is a lot of fun, and each level is packed full of them. Some secrets might be useful items like megaspheres, praetor suit tokens, sentinel batteries and runes. Other secrets can be fun collectables like figurines, vinyls that you can listen to in the hub world or cheat codes you can activate and replay levels with. Make sure to collect all the cheat codes for a fun surprise!

The multiplayer mode is a unique take on a Versus type gamemode. Battlemode puts you in a 3-player scenario, one Slayer versus two heavy demons. The first to win three rounds wins the game.
The Slayer is fully kitted out with all suit upgrades and weapon mods whilst the demons have their own unique abilities (depending on which demon you picked) and are able to summon AI demons to either act as defence or create distractions.
The goal of Battlemode is for the Slayer to kill both demons before the other resurrects, and the demons to kill the slayer and end the round. Each time a round ends, each player can pick new ability or upgrades to further strengthen themselves. Before the start of the third round, however, players can have access and choose one of the most powerful abilities, like the demons can summon the Baron of Hell or resurrect a dead player instantly, or the Slayer gaining the BFG 9000.

The game has a huge replayability factor as well. You can try and complete challenges and milestones to collect new skins, podiums and animations to customise your playable characters with.
Every month or so, a new seasonal event is introduced where player can level up by playing the game or completing weekly challenges and unlock new customisation options , as well as the coveted Master Collections that are packed full of their own unique skins, animations, podiums and options for your nametag.

If that's not enough DOOM for ya, The Ancient Gods campaign DLCs will introduce more levels, gameplay and story elements, and new demon types. I would go on about Part One and what's new that came with it, but I will leave a separate review about that later. There's also the Invasion mode to look forward to as well, where players can invade your campaign as demons 𝘢 𝘭𝘢 Dark Souls that will be added later on.

So if you're looking for something to get your demon slaughtering fix going, you're bored and need something new and exciting to play, or you just saw it on sale for like 50% off or something, just go ahead and give id Software all of your money so they can keep making more cool stuff like this.

Where Id Software made DOOM into a technological masterpiece in the FPS genre, QUAKE changed the way FPS games will be played forever.
The gothic/hellish fell of the level design, monsters ready to suprise you around every corner and a bodacious arsenal to rain hell on your enemies. Not to mention (or that I need to), QUAKE was the game that put deathmatch on the map.
1996 was a long ways back, but it still lives up to it's hype and still kick some serious ass!
I highly recommend it. You haven't lived until you've played it.
