Steam Awards forced me to write a review so here I am.

Still a solid game tho, can recommend.

Even tho this isn't really a game it is a lot of fun.
The new update which introduced the Open World "Story" map is also quite interesting altough the boss in that level is kind of difficult to understand at first.

Overall very nice and well done.

It's alright.
I'm not exactly sure what they smoked when making this game but it must have been something really good. For an arcade racer it's fine and if you like arcade racing games this is probably gonna be some fun, altough wait for a sale before you buy.

Some things that are very offputting however are some of the decisions they made with this game. FOr example there is no replay mode at the end of the race. Why? The replay was always very cool to watch, especially if you drive in the hood cam like I do.
Doesn't exist idk why.

Livery's can't be created unless you have a gamepad connected. Again why? Any controls I can do with a gamepad I can also do with a mouse and keyboard but they apparently didn't want to work that one out so gamepad only.
This would be ok to some degree but you can't even choose the base color of your car without the livery editor meaning I'm stuck using either the stock livery (which often is just a plain color) or the unlockable liveries which often don't look to great.

And then there is the AI oh god the AI is terrible.
I have to give them credit for the AI not being as rubberbandy as in many other games however it still has it's quirks.
For starters the AI really really wants to stay on their specific racing line and if you happen to be in the way well too bad you will be pushed into every wall so the AI can drive on their line.
The start of a race is always the worst because the AI is extremely aggressive and that isn't even on purpose you just happen to drive near the line they want to take so off you go.

The only performance problem I have with the AI is their speed, specifically that of the front pack usually consisting of 2-4 cars. For some reason they are so much faster than anyone else, including yourself. I play on Hard, so the second highest difficulty, and some races are just plain impossible to beat without lowering the difficulty.
No matter how good you drive or how fast you are or how much you ram the AI into oblivion and beyond they will be faster than you in the exact same car.
This is really frustrating because most races are very doable on hard, others are incredibly easy and a few are simply impossible.

Then there is the cars. For the most part I like the way they did the cars. Most of them feel very unique, altough a bit floaty at times.
My problem comes from RWD cars. For some reason RWD is just absolute garbage. If I drive on Snow or Ice, so a low grip surface, in a RWD car, I steer into a corner to get the car sideways and once it's sideways I hit the pedal to the metal.
Now theoretically speaking the back of the car should break out and get you going even more sideways because, well physics.
For some reason they decided that a RWD car doing that proceeds to straighten out like a candle, sending you off into the next wall.
The most interesting part about this is that 4WD does not do this. 4WD cars handle those situations exactly how you would expect the RWD car to handle them, they break out.

The game is also rather repetitive with a very lack luster career which is basically just a bunch of races strung together with no affiliation to one another, apart from the throwdown events which I don't understand the purpose of.


Overall this is not worth the "Dirt 5" name or the 60$ pricetag.
However I still recommend this to anyone who just wants to drive some cool cars around good looking tracks (the game does look beatiful) in a very arcady style.
If that is what you are looking for this game is probably something you'll enjoy but you should either get it from a third-party website that sells keys (base game goes for 15-20$ on most) or wait for a sale that brings it down to like 20-25$.

So it's a little pricey but if you enjoy the game and want to support the devs I can recommend it.
Otherwise wait for a sale.

I think the bikes make the game a lot better since they are better in pretty much every way compared to the free moped and they make traveling far distances much much faster.
Fuel and Repair Kits are plentiful but also easy to craft so either way you shouldn't run out of either.
Fuel found in cars also tends to respawn after restarting the game always in the same vehicle they were originally found in which I'm not sure is intentional but it's definitely helpful.

For a free mod there is no excuse to not play this if you are a fan of the Portal games.

Because of the third portal ,and the quirks that come with being able to travel between future and present, some chambers can be quite a head scratcher when you first get to them.
Many of them provided a nice challenge and a fresh way of doing things. Altough there are many many alternative solutions and I unintentionally used wrong solutions that still worked multiple times it was still fun to figure these out.

So if you like portal definitely give this a go. It's not perfect but then again this is a free mod and for that it exceeds expectations.



Many people said this can be very hard but if you are already familiar with Portals mechanics (and also some you can abuse lol) then this provides you with a challenge but not an overly difficult one.
25 Chambers to solve all in all took me around 2 1/2 hours which is a totally good time for a mod ^^

Runs alright I guess but it likes to crash a lot be prepared for that.
Anything I do will crash the game can't get anywhere because of it.

Ontop of that there is literally zero explaining like I understand that I won't understand anything that exists within the developer settings but I kept hearing about this game and especially one phrase which is "you can swap assets from original to modern in one click" but how do you do that? Well who knows it's not explained anywhere and nobody explained it before so I was just left with trying out different buttons and anytime a button seemed to be doing something the game crashed so yeah.
This is just not that great and nothing gets explained.

So I've seen like 3 videos of this game before I bought it and after the 1st one I saw I was already willing to buy it.
It looked cool but I did not expect what I got. Obviously the game isn't perfect in some instances animations are a little wanky here and there but damn did this game take me by suprise.
I bought it and played through the entire thing in one go which took me about 6.5 Hours and that is just one of the possible endings.
I have not even seen half of the content this game has to offer since you can make so many different choices that not only affect the current run you are doing but also affect each new run you start during the same playthrough.
Hats off this game is absolutely amazing if you are someone who likes narrative driven games that present you not only with choices but also difficult choices at certain points you have to make that can also be altered depending on what you chose to do before then this is the game for you.

As I said I expected this game to be kinda cool but I was blown away by how good it turned out to be and I did not encounter a single bug.
Definitely worth the price I'd even be willing to pay a little more for such a gem of a game.

I wasn't 100% sure about this game. I've briefly seen it on YouTube a few years back and now during the last Winter Sale I saw this game again and thought to give it a try.

This game is an experience. Your choices really do matter quite a lot and choices you make at the beginning of the game can affect entire situations at the end of it.
I'm glad I never watched a Let's Play of it back in the day as I was now able to experience this completely blind (apart from a few beginning scenes).

If you like point and click type of Story telling games with a little bit of puzzling mixed up in it and making choices that actually matter and could potentially decide between life or death without the game failing you and continuing on with what has happened definitely buy this and play it.
