Devs refuse to make the next one because they can keep ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ out $20 DLCs that shouldve been in base game, and people keep buying it
"Oh the next one will be good!" And then its some schizophrenic dlc ♥♥♥♥ where your divisions now do twice their attack because you have like
Anarcho-Capitalist society or some ♥♥♥♥
And the historical path of the SAME COUNTRY is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ snoozefest
They put more of their time into mod type schizo paths than they do into historical or plausible alternate history
I mean for ♥♥♥♥♥ sake for a time the leader of nazi collaborationist poland was a staunch anti german fascist.

And they do this because it gets views on youtube, which means more money, which means more garbage DLCs with like 3 unrealistic alt schizo paths that are interesting for a game or two.

Hi. Thousand or so hours in this game.
Here's the reasonings for my review:

Great things!
1. It's basically the ruler of it's genre(that still has an active playerbase). It's pretty much the real direct evolution of Chivalry 1. It's a lot more indepth and less forgiving then Chivalry 2, and renown isn't real.
You can look up "Medieval Slasher" and I can guarantee Mordhau will be in the top 3(if it isn't all of the top 3.)

2. It's got great skill expression. You can really express your mastery of the mechanics of this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. I like that.

3. It's honestly a beautiful game. It's pretty nice to look at.

4. What is left of the Community is mostly nice people. That's good for a game.

Now the reasonings for a bad review.

1. Skill expression. It's both a good thing and a bad thing. The issue with mordhau is that the gap between a new player and someone who's been playing for a while is much larger than most other games. While you can probably get good at a shooter in 400 hours, to have the same level of skill of maybe an 800 hour player, it's not like that in Mordhau.
The difference between a Level 100, and a level 150 is insanely massive. The difference between a 400 hour player, and a 800 hour player is astronomical.
This makes the game incredibly hard to get into, and if you do get into it, you will be getting your ass handed to you by veterans for a thousand hours.

2. Development has completely stopped. Triterion have basically abandoned the game. They release the rare $5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥ DLC, and then a single modder made map. There hasn't been a significant content update(maps, skins, new weapons) to the main game(Not including horde) since I believe the eastern update. Which was 2021. And it added a single weapon.

3. Dead playerbase. A majority of regions are either dead, or dying. I define dead as seeing the same players over and over again, in a small number of servers. If i see the same 30 people in two DM servers, and barely anyone else. I consider it a dead region. This is the state my region is in for brawl. Most times of the day, you cannot find more than 1 populated Brawl Server.
The only active regions are iirc, US East, and Europe.

All around, if you REALLY want to play a slasher NOW!!! then buy Chivalry 2 for a more enjoyable experience. You'll still get your ass beat, but not as much as in Mordhau.

If you REALLY want to play a slasher that rewards absurdly high skill, then do get into Mordhau. But don't expect it to be very alive when you're finally good.

I'd recommend waiting for the next big Medieval Slasher to come out (I'm looking at Fiefdom!) if you want to get into the genre eventually.

Love this game, been a huge part of my life for 5 years now, met a lot of great people here.

Don't buy it.
