If all remakes were this good then remakes wouldn't have such a bad reputation. It did exactly what a remake should do which is to capture the game play and aesthetics of the original while fixing the flaws.

similar to old flash games and shmups but with a rogue like twist

you play as a character trying to survive. there are four buttons up down left right, that is it. You start with a character and an item with some stats, you get different characters as you progress. when your abilities passively kill monsters slowly walking toward you they drop a gem. If you get a number of gems you level up and get to pick one of three/four items which make your character stronger. Sometimes it's a health bonus, sometimes its a damage bonus but what direction you go its typically up to you.

Other than that you just walk around and avoid them for as long as you can. at 30 minute the round ends regardless so its a great game if you are just looking to kill some time or if you are waiting around for someone.

great game to relax and worth the price since its so cheap.

Better than sex and far more demanding on your mind, body, and spirit.

There are many games online that pretend to give you a feeling like you are a real "computer hacker" but what computer hacking really looks like is this game. You read the manual and you move registers around until you find a way to abuse the machine to do what you want. What a wonderful little game that so few people will probably ever find and even fewer will appreciate.

At 250h logged I can say that this game sadly is not worth your time.

If you have friends it can be a good game to have on while you catch up but the game itself is mechanically and fatally flawed.

PvE - They have removed half the content in the game so if you are a veteran you are going to be treated the worst by the game. In order to do much of the game you have to buy the expansions and DLCs but all that really does is get you around a paywall, it doesn't give you more content and the content it does give you will likely be removed later despite it being content you paid 20$ to unlock. This adds up quickly, for a free game I've spent over 60$ just to unlock the various parts of this game and not a single part of it was cosmetic, it was all season passes and deluxe edition upgrades needed to access older content, which you don't get by just owning the latest DLC like any other MMO.
The grind is horrific and if you aren't playing this game every single day you will not get your seasonals done. SImple as that. You can't casually play this game it is designed to keep you playing forever. Sadly its not even fun to do so, most of the "quests" involve you doing the same three things over and over and often requires you to play pve and pvp to progress in either.

PvP - Is a solid joke. I'm going to tell you right now if you think that you want to play this game because it feels good to play as a shooter I'll stop you right there. The PvP in this game is Peer2Peer based meaning that whoever has the worst connection basically hosts the game. Combine this with a thriving community of boosters and hackers and no real anti-cheat to speak of and you get pvp lobbies that are full of wall hacks, aim botting, and network manipulation to the extent that you can expect maybe 1/10 games to have people who are not hacking and have a ping below 60 which is the basic requirement to have any reasonable first person multiplayer shooter experience.

Lastly is the company itself. When bungie took it back people thought that things would get better but they haven't. Since bungie took it back its simply gotten more micro-transaction oriented and content is being stripped constantly. Its clear they are just milking it at this point. Whatever respect you think you still have for Bungie you can throw that away, it might carry the name but no resedue of the spirit and passion that made the halo games or even Destiny 1 still lives here, it might as well have been sold to tencent. Its sad because Destiny 1 was a fun game and Destiny 2 originally had promise but at this point I can't suggest that anybody spend time or money on this game at this point or for the forseeable future

Cyberpunk 2077 is a outlandishly ambitious and breath taking project that is riddled with problems but through it you might find a bit of hope at the end.

I made sure to complete everyone's main story before posting which took me right at 50 hours of game play. I would divide up my time as such

15h Main Story and Main Side Quests
10h walking/running/driving
15h Random Side Quests
5h Trying to get upgrades, play with the game engine, and just generally googling
5h Trying to get through the various and numerous game breaking and just generally annoying bugs

If I had to generalize the aspects of this game I would say
Combat: 3
Story: 7
Quests: 7
Open World Fun: 3 (mostly because its fun to exploit all the unfinished and buggyness of the game sometimes)
Visual Appeal: 5 (It looks at a medium distance. Too close and you see problems, too far and you see problems)
replayability: 3 (the game basically ends in a way that you can't really come back from so you just reload your last save like OG Fallout 3 before the DLC)
Role Play: 1 (This game promised a lot of role play aspects like the ability to customize your character in game, to mod your body, to buy houses, most all of that is missing, when comparing the game to something like yakuza 0 it comes off as quite pathetic)

So as of the 1.1 Patch here are the following bugs I experience often, and I mean often

1. I went netrunner and often use the contagion quick hack, but about every 5th or 6th use it never stops making that ticking sounds and I have to reload a save.
2. Often you will not be able to talk to characters or interact with items such as terminals or pick up objects because they are either clipped through the game or just not addressable with your cursor
3. I love stealth games, and I like to think I'm quite good at them. This game never game me that opportunity and I quickly found out my time and effort put into those perks were wasted. Often times enemies will see you behind walls, or will become hostile for no reason. Sometimes I would save before I had been caught so I could roll it back to try and to perfect stealth runs, but often I would reload them to find that I have been retroactively set to hostile with no way to fix it. Trying to hack things to use as a distraction has not ONCE ever worked even when you blow something up directly next to the person. More importantly than any of this though, there are no advantages what so ever to going the stealth route and the game rewards you far more for just running in and shooting everyone and everything, often times having no consequences to any story line items for doing so but greatly increasing the amount of time you waste trying to work around the games bugs and flawed design.
4. Once a cop finds you hostile which is quite random, they will kill you no matter what your level is if you don't just run away. The engine around this is very lazy because the cops will spawn behind you with gear leveled just above you and shoot you at point blank in the head in literally one second after they spawn. I've been killed by a cop that hadn't even shown up on the minimap yet. Combine that with the fact that you can kill someone in front of a cop and nothing happens sometimes, and others you can be doing nothing at all at any point in the game and still somehow get wanted status.
5. The driving is not as bad as I had been led to believe but its not very good either. Cars will spawn in and out of the game, pedestrians seem designed to dive face first into your car or bike and very basic issues can cause the cars to be backed up for miles.
6. Character models and spawning seems broken and many thing about the game make you question how its programmed. I called rogue once and got a double voice only to realize that out in the badlands, rogue had been spawned behind me sitting down on nothing like her model in afterlife just because I called her which means this game has to actually spawn them to you and hide them somewhere every-single-time you call someone. When characters walk their clothing will sometimes disconnect from them and follow them like some kind of haunted jacket and many times if you reload a save in a car mission you will end up in the drivers seat inside their skull looking at the back of their eyeballs and a floating toungue. All this is funny until you end up in a situation where you can't call someone, or they don't call you and that is especially bad when its main quest like you need to complete the game, of which there are currently multiple outstanding bugs. There are many side questions I didn't get to complete not because I didn't want to but because the quest broke in some fundamental way through no fault of mine, often times simply talking to someone too early or late or before or after a particular quest is enough to lock that quest off from your playthrough forever.
7. Combat is either so easy its trivial, or so hard it makes you wonder if anybody played this and found it fun. The gun physics is bad, very bad. If you choose the aldocaldo ending you get to have a shootout but the gun is so inaccurate I can't imagine anyone could complete that quest, and this is unfortunately most guns in the game. Shooting feels like a choir, everything has massive sway and spray even at legendary status and often times the rarity of the gun doesn't mean anything. Long after getting infinite money and buying all the legendary guns in the game I still used my widowmaker rare I got half way through the game because it was still the best gun. The crafting system is also poorly designed or broken one because its often better to craft a new iconic weapon than to upgrade and often upgrading takes more parts for less improvement, which is the opposite of how it should be I think. Your only hope is to get a smart gun but those are far and few and even then its hit or miss no pun intended. Grenades are limited use but there are plenty of them, but they have the physics of a stuffed teddy bear and when you throw them they gently fall to the ground in a perfect parabola with no bounce. This would be ok if half the enemies in the game didn't spend the fight running and a good chunk of the enemies can just teleport directly to you.
8. Lets talk about netrunner. If you get the rippler mk.4 and contagion and ping, you stop having to play the game which is good in some ways because of all the issues outlined in the previous bullet but bad in others because it shows that you enjoy the game more when you don't have to dredge through the combat and just get on with the only part of this game that works consistently which is the story line and voice acting.

If you put all these aside though I'm sad to say that even without the bugs, the games design is also just inherently flawed and broken and often times just not well thought out, making a game that had so much potential end up being a paper thin covering over a somewhat empty core. If you pitched this to me as a single player game 10 years ago I would have thought it a brilliant game, but for a game that came out in 2021 its inferior to GTA, Saints Row, Mafia, and even lesser played games like Sleeping Dogs and that can't get a pass when their timelines were their own and their promises were theirs to make and sadly, break.

TL;DR In about a year if this game is <30$ and you are a big fan of the cyberpunk aesthetic then I highly advise this game to you but in now way shape or form can I in all good conscience recommend this to anybody for a cent over 30$ nor in the state its in where you can't even beat the game until they come out with patch 1.2. This game has a beautiful story but that's it, everything outside of the characters and voice actors is an absolute mess and it makes it feel all the worse that you find yourself thinking this could have been one of the greatest video games ever made but instead its just a half finished idea sold DOA.

I bought this game when it went on discount because I played alot of BF1 and thought that maybe after years of development things would have improved form the horrible reviews I had seen about this game on its release and first few months especially with all the promised content and concepts.

I played 2 hours and some change and refunded it and here is why.
1. It played terribly even by BF1 standards, and its not from lack of hardware, when you search online people of all rigs have issues getting this game not to stutter and chug which is a death sentence for a game where those few frames are the difference in a 300 yard headshot and just gardening the map with lead. Not to mention the split second timing needed to win some of the close combat.
2. In addtion to technical issues there are plenty of design issues. Vehicles being the big one as they were in BF1 but this time around you have to play for about 20 hours before you get anything that can deal with vehicles and even then its not a sure thing. As a result of this nerf, basically every map involves just giving away one of the points to a vehicle who will camp it and never die.
3. the game is 90 gigs which is fine except that alot of it is the story which i've heard is horrible anyway, nobody cares I just want a multiplayer only installer so that a fps doesn't take up as much as MS Flight Sim on my computer.
4. There are two types of maps, maps that are copies of the BF1 maps and maps that range from suck to meh.
5. Its got a bit of a battlefront problem where some classes are simply not playable realistically until you unlock a gun from doing alot of things which means if you like sniping like me you will have to use the gun you lucked out and got from the battlefield pack or grind just to play the game proper.

Combine all this with the fact that it has been announced that they are not going to work on this game anymore and I can safely review the state of the game as it will theoretically be forever, which isn't great. Go buy BF1 and hope people are still playing that or go play CoD since they've devolved the game to not be far off from it but this isn't worth the stress it puts on your system or your mind.

CS:GO Review
When you compare shooters to each other you first start by comparing every other shooter you have ever played to Counter Strike. There are no kill streak kits, no fancy weapon mechanics, not even sprinting. Only the best of the best climb in this arena and many have been playing this game in some form long before most people on the planet were even alive. If you can master this game you can master any FPS because no hand holding happens in dust. CS:GO improves upon the previous games by simply not changing a damn thing.

It doesn't do much but what it does it does well. Some will find it a bit pedantic as the goal of the game is to die, but if you want an arcade like experience 4 player game this is easily worth 20$ and the time you'll give it.

Many years have passed, and many FPS games have come and go and even plenty of rivals but none have been able to dethrone this game because while it might not do much new or innovative, and there are areas where it shows its age for all to see, overall this game did one thing and one thing well which is to create a fun and balanced team based competitive arena shooter. Nothing will ever be quite as satisfying as winning 2fort or getting a payload through dustbowl. Combine that with the genuine humor and lore of the game itself and its no wonder why this game refuses to die.
