Kinda like this game, whether I win or lose. Definitely playing it at my own pace and find that it's not the grindfest like some other FTP games.

Yeah, after 132 hrs and 2 x VIP purchases, I initially thought this was a well-thought out game but it's quickly becoming unbalanced. First 1000 players have bolted and now any new players are playing catch-up with lower XP and $ on most fish.

Will revisit maybe in a couple of months to see what has changed.

Still an OK game, but "thumbs down" for the moment, partly because the moderators are taking on a similar stance as those of RF4 and FP. Look at some of the spats with players who know a thing or two about fishing games. I don't know, maybe the mods will mature with the game...I don't have time for their nonsense / no sense.

All in all, that's why the player numbers are dropping as you can see here: https://steamcharts.com/app/1094780. Please take care before you spend money on this game and take anything the mods tell you with a grain of salt.

Example, I recently raised the issue around competitions and how unbalanced it is. I suggested they should be looking at level-based comps and got set upon by both the developer's attack dogs i.e. moderator and officer (LOL). Lately more people have become aware of the imbalance and started complaining and now it seems they're finally starting to listen. Democracy will always win - perhaps the general (developer) and his officer should take note :)

Updated review: Russia can go suck a ♥♥♥♥.

Original review: I originally gave this game a positive review, up until I reached lvl 30 and did some stock take by looking at the number of hours that I've put in and rewards that I got out of the game. In a nutshell this game is a rip-off. The rewards you get based on hours play doesn't make it worth your time.

Even if you've spent money like I did, it still doesn't help you progress much quicker in the game. Then there is this: $300 for the top reel in the game. Real money people. Not funny money that you can earn through a grind. REAL MONEY!!!! FTP my ass.

The DLC to get if you want to level up fast whilst earning loads of cash. Set up 5 setups in Layton Lakes and rotate between them all throughout the hunting day. Hunting pressure has no impact on the attraction rate, so give 'em everything you got. Blast 6 shots with the pump action then plink as many as you can with the .22. Getting 15+ ducks at one setup is not uncommon if done this way.

Bugs, bugs and more bugs. Some might call it an infestation. I can't understand why some of these have been around since inception. It's like EW is literally wiping their butts with the cash we throw their way instead of putting it to good use. All they do is make more DLCs, with more bugs.

Secondly, coming from Classic, the animal behavior in CoTW sucks. In classic the AI is much more developed. CoTW is basically a casual, stripped down version of classic on a far superior engine. The controls are clunky, not as crisp as Classic. The game mechanics like switching between different ammo or arrow types, random hitboxes and the inabillity to pause is piss-poor and cumbersome. Also the graphics are not that great. There are scenes and scenery in Classic that look much better than the ones in this game.

I bought this because Classic is dying a slow death. The way CoTW is progressing, you can see that the player numbers have stagnated. People buy the game, play a few minutes and request a refund, or play then leave because of how buggy it is. EW simply doesn't get it. Not with Classic. Not with CoTW.
