I wish I could return the phone

Interesting investigation mechanics, going down for the boxes and the corkboard are cool ideas. While allowing the user to construct their own corkboard is part of the draw of the game, I personally would have preferred a set corkboard layout, with spaces to fill in. I ended up putting documents in order as I got them on the board, while my pen and paper notes better show how I reached each document.

combat is boring and rough. the game has a wide map but is actually on rails by gating off areas, only serving to make it hard to figure out where to go sometimes. the puzzles / mechanics beyond combat were either very simple or hard to understand what is being asked of you.

very interesting detective game

Good for people who want more of Roottrees. The setting is pretty interesting and I enjoyed reading the background material.

stealth sections, camera, and movement were unpleasant to deal with and translation puzzles were lackluster - you are basically able to instantly complete every journal entry. too many clues just by walking around, no deduction required. hardest part of the game ends up being interpreting drawings, not symbols.

disappointed that poisoning myself wasn't an ending
