Early Access Review
7 Days to Die (as of Alpha 8).
"The Survival Horde Crafting Game"

The general concept of the game is decent, a lot of ideas put in so far are generally fancy.
However, being an Alpha it is loaded ridiculously with plethoras of bugs that really mar the gameplay experience.

Not just bugs, but design choices that leave much to be wanted beyond what the game already offers in terms of immersiveness.
Issues like zombies spawning in front of you, prefab zombie spawn locations, warping through underground areas to the surface for no reason. (as well as obviously revealing to the player that zombies indeed spawning, though breaking immersion.)
General AI and physics glitches are to be expected.

The games Alpha states have suffered from many other issues, such as item duplication, inventory loss due to other bugs, etc.
Zombies are currently set to spawn from a radius from the player, however this can result in zombies appearing in completely secured locations, such as a player's main base.

Bugs aside, the game does offer a large amount of freedom, to construct survival camps, bases, compounds and such to hold out against the endless amounts of undead.

The general idea of optional world persistence is nice, few other games offer this.
With a very vast crafting system as well as an ambitious voxel world destruction and physics foundation far surpassing many other games, including triple-A title destruction, though obviously still buggy and in early development.

Buy this game if:
- Bugs and immersion breakers are not your main concern.
- You really think forking out 15-30 dollars is worth an Alpha.
- You liked Minecraft, and also like killing zombies, and like the idea of destructible environments.
- You like post-apocalypse themed games.
- You're prepared to be disappointed by randomly occurring game issues.

Don't buy this game if:
- You hate bugs with a passion.
- You have no patience for promised and delayed game features or fixes.
- You are not prepared for the idea of losing game progress through bugs or issues.

Overall 7DTD is probably one of the better Alpha-funded sandbox survival games around, but definitely not the best, perhaps a very high contender in zombie-themed titles.
Other zombie games like L4D or State of Decay offer a lot less with world interaction, but definitely win a lot more with immersion, in which 7DTD often isn't ashamed to break outright.

Rating as of Alpha(8): 6/10
